Well, I think I overdid it...at least I don't have my first real class till tomorrow so I haven't missed any study time;) But my free time was swallowed by a massive vaccuum this weekend and I'm staring at the piles of things near me with quite a sense of puzzlementXD Probably a harbinger of things to come^^;
But I think you will all be happy to see the results of my adventures with suctionXD First, after going over the results of my mini-poll I decided to go with what the majority said...which was 'do what you like'=) Thank you to all who offered their opinion or advice, I really appreciate it:3 And what I have chosen is to start with the episodes that have come out recently and try to work through them rather than keep plugging away futiley at that 4 months worht I'm behind^^; It makes me feel better to go forward anyway:) So, in that vein, today I present the MMA from last Saturday (omg, this is surreal, I haven't been this on time since New Year'sXD) 07.09.01, with Jun and Ohno<3
Jun/Ohno: Arashi's Assault, Children's Dinner~!
[Announcer: In place of parents who are busy everyday, Arashi cooks dinner. Arashi's Assault, Children's Dinner!]
Jun: So this means that today we're going to cook dinner around here.
Ohno: Yes.
Jun: Yeah...
Mayuko: Hi there!
Jun: It's a lot of trouble ne- oh!
Mayuko: I'm here for the second round ne.
Jun: Your favor please.
Mayuko: Your favor please, it's been awhile.
Ohno: It's been awhile.
Jun: Ah~, well, we've come in for a lot of trouble today, so let's get right to it cause it's hot.
Ohno/Mayuko: Yes;P
00:30
{the request is from Yokosuka-shi's Harper Masako-san, she wants them to come make food with the kid's beloved nattou. So Jun says it's a nattou
battle, and ohno asks if that's true, so Jun shows him it says that nattou's their favorite food so that's what they're making it with and Ohno
says they should make them eat nattou then. mayuko then breaks the news to them that there aren't very many recipes that use nattou, which Jun
acknowledges, and Ohno then says that the simple ones are the most delicious. Mayuko says 'like when you put it on rice?' and Jun says you can't
put that out (for dinner), they agree to that and Ohno says he'll arrange it somehow. The announcer tells them to make delicious things using
nattou, and it's time to go to the home of the client. Jun says hello, Masako replies in kind, and then Jun asks if she's the one who called
them for today, then tells her they've come to make dinner that day and pleasantries are exchange all around^^ Jun and Mayuko tell the kids to
come around and that's when everyone realizes they're twins;P Ohno says he has no idea which is whichXD The announcer says they have an American
father, and the three children are the well-tgoether older sister Amari and the 'funky' twins Musashi and Daigo. Just for the heck of it Jun
asks what kind of food the three of them like and Masako once again says they like nattou, to which Mayuko is loike 'what~?' and ohno asks if they
really like nattou. And Mayuko asks which tein she's playing with at the momentXD The announcer reiterates that the mother has asked them to make
dinner using nattou. Jun tells the kids to say goodbye to their mother and the announcer says she's off to send something to their father, who is
a first lieutenant in the US Army, and seems to be a busy person because 3 years earlier he started going back and forth between Japan and the US.
The writing says that with the children's guidance they head into the house. Musashi falls on the stairs and Jun asks if he's okay, then asks if
this is their house (that they've arrived at). Amari points at a picture of her father and says 'that's my dad', Jun asks what his name is and
she says she doesn't knowO_o Jun is like 'you don't know??' and she says she doesn't know yet. Jun says 'your father?' and she says yes, leaving
Ohno musing that she really doesn't know. The announcer says that although the mother asked them for that...}
2:37
Jun: So, what do you want to eat today?
Daigo: Panda! (writing)
Mayuko: Panda?
Jun: You can't eat panda.
Daigo: Panda panda!
Jun: You're all worked up ne! (writing)
Ohno: Yes, come here. Just sit down.
Jun: Ah, that's enough...
Mayuko: What should we do....?
Daigo: Toribo-n! (writing...)
Mayuko: If you don't tell us what you want we can't make dinner.
Amari: Me! Me!
Ohno: The food-
Amari: Nattou<3 (writing)
3:08
{the announcer says they really do like it, and Jun asks how they normally eat it, Ohno asks Musashi what food he likes, and Jun asks if they
eat nattou and rice and Amari says yes. Jun asks Musashi what he wants to eat and Ohno asks if everyone likes nattou, Amari says yes again.
Mayuko says they know that everyone loves nattou, but then Jun asks what about Daigo, and as they say his name he comes over and dives in Jun's lapO_o
Mayuko says the kids love the two of them and Musashi whacks the camera with his hand leading to ask if the two of them are okay^^; Again she says
they're making nattou in today's contest, then wonders what might be in the Harper's fridge...Ohno asks Amari to open it and she says 'inside?'
(I guess her Japanese isn't that good?) and Jun says there's tons of nattou insideXD Ohno says they must really like it, and Daigo says there's
eggs too, Mayuko agrees with him. Ohno says everyone there likes nattou right? Amari says something and mayuko tells her there's squid in there too,
Jun agrees and points out squid, shrimp and grapes, then says they should get around to deciding on their menus, and Ohno agrees. According to the
writing inside the fridge there are nattou, eggs, shrimp, squid, green onions, squash, eggplant, mountain potatoes, okra, and shiso. Mayuko tells
them to decide with that, and Jun says there's been no hints at allXD The announcer asks what kind of me nu the two have thought of using these
ingredients...}
4:25
Jun: Then I'll start.
Ohno: Yes.
Jun: Tada. Read it! (writing)
Mayuko: Amari, cna you read it?
Amari: I can't... (writing)
Jun: Excuse me, um, you're paving an extraordinary amount! You're pacing an incredible amount...Musashi-san.
Ohno: You're pretty calculating aren't you? (writing)
Jun: Musashi-san...you're repeating an extraordinary amount. Soba and tempu-ra! (writing)
Amari: I like it.
Jun: You like it? Alright then, I'll make that.
4:55
{the announcer says Jun is going to make the nattou into tempura and mix it with soba.}
5:01
Jun: Next, Riidaa, you go.
Ohno: Yes.
Jun: Nattou cha-han. You're dojng cha-han again? (writing)
Ohno: Have you ever eaten nattou cha-han? (writing)
Amari: Yeah, I've had nattou cha-han.
Jun: You have?
Amari: I have. (writing)
Jun: You have, do you like it?
Amari: I like it. (writing)
Ohno: Alright.
Jun: Ah, I see....
5:12
{the announcer says is going to compete by addin nattou to his specialty, cha-han.}
5:16
Jun: Dai~go.
Mayuko: Do you like soba, Daigo-chan? Daigo-chan.
Ohno: Musashi...d you like nattou cha-han? (writing)
[writing: No response]
Mayuko: Well, if you just make it and put it out... it's not like they hate it. They don't hate it, it'll definitely be okay! (writing) They'll like it.
Jun: Alright, let's do our best!
Ohno: Yessir.
Mayuko: Let's do our best.
Jun: Let's do our best today! (writing)
Ohno: Let's get through today... (writing)
Mayuko: Get through??
5:44
{it's time to cook; Ohno says he's going to put nattou into the shiichi cha-han he made the time before. Mayuko says that it's not the kind of
Chinese food cha-han right, and he agrees, and she says for the time being they'll just put in whatever they have in the house. The announcer says
that Ohno makes the advance preparations for the eggs, octopus, lettuce, nattou and cha-han ingredients. He adds octopus to the heated up canned
tuna and finally pours in the main ingredient, the nattou, at which point Mayuko has some advice. She suggests washing the nattou, which Ohno is
surprised at, until she says that by washing it you can soften the stench. So, that's what he does, then adds in the rice and egg. Once Mayuko
puts in the nattou they both agree it looks delicious. ohno tastes it and Mayuko asks if the flavor's too faint and he says it's delicious;P
(sasuga Ohno-kun...XD) Mayuko agrees and the announcer says is looking good.}
7:38
[writing: At that moment Matsumoto is...]
Jun: ow ow ow. That hurts, you!
Daigo: *gibberish*
Jun: Hello~. Ow! (writing) That hurts, that hurts~! Ow ow ow! (writing)
Daigo: *gibberish*
Jun: You're really going to piss me off! (writing) That's enough already, you really will piss me off! That's not a threat! Alright, I'll hit
you the next time! (writing)
[writing: Glue. Announcer: Hey now!]
Jun: That's no good, why don't you give that back.
Daigo: it's a spoon! (writing)
Jun: Wrong, wrong, it's glue. So close your eyes- hey you, that's dangerous! That's dangerous you!
Daigo: Dangerous! Dangerous! (writing)
Jun: hey you, don't smear that on my arm! (writing)
Daigo: Dan-gerous! (writing)
Jun: You- you really are an idiot aren't you! Why are you putting glue on my arm! (writing)
Daigo: You're all dry! (writing)
Jun: I'm not 'dry'! Cause that's not lotion, you! (writing)
Daigo: You're like a pand~a! (writing)
Jun: i'm like a panda- ow ow! I didn't get into the entertainment world so that people could do this to me! (writing)
Daigo: What is this? (writing)
8:55
{the announcer repeats that it's Ohno and Jun's nattou competition, and says that Ohno's nattou cha-han is nearing completion. Ohno says he's
sweating and Mayuko says that adding lettuce to nattou makes it realyl great, and Ohno agrees. The announcer states the obvious (adding lettuce)
and Ohno says it's done. mayuko says to plate it and as he does so Ohno says it's amazing, it looks like take-outXD He puts a plate on top and
then flips it over and Mayuko tells him to lift it off gently. Very pretty Ohno<3 mayuko says it looks delicious, and the cha-han is done^^
Ohno asks if he washes the next set of nattou in water and she says she thinks it's okay not to, the announcer says that Ohno now sets about
making one more dish, the nattou miso soup. He just puts the nattou in the heated miso brioth and adds some chopped up eggplant, very simple...
but the flavor?}
10:02
Ohno: Ah, that's great, just like that.
[writing: He has confidence! Announcer: At that moment an email from the mother comes to Matsumoto-kun.]
Jun: Eh, the kids aren't causing any trouble are they? Please teach the children a Japanese game they don't know! (writing) If you please.
Do you know 'hey look over there'? (writing)
Amari: 'look over-'
Jun: 'Hey look-'
Amari: When you say 'hey look over there'...um, if you kind of look up... (writing)
Jun: That's right, you can't look in the same direction. (writing) Then you lose. Okay?
Amari: Yes!
Jun/Amari: First throw, jankenpon! try again! 'Hey look over there'!
[writing: ignoring]
Jun: Where did you look?
Jun/Amari: First throw, jankenpon!
Jun: Yes, Amari. say 'hey look over there'.
Amari: 'hey look over there'!
[writing: Glaring]
Jun: You have to point with your finger!
11:00
{the announcer says after this is Jun's original nattou tempura. Mayuko asks if he's doing one tempura each and he says yes, so she says 'you're making
three?' and he says yes again. The announcer says that he's making preparations for the three types of seafood that will go in the tempura, so he cuts
the octopus and squid into easily edible pieces. Mayuko finds his cutting method scary and asks what he's doing, and he says he's thinning itXD She
asks if this is because he couldn't do everything with the ink beforehand and he says no, she asks if there's some other kind of thought behind it
and he says that this is how he has it pictured in his head:3 The announcer says next are the shrimp, after taking off the shell he slits the back
and pulls out the veins. Then he makes the preparations for the tempura vegetables as well.}
12:13
Mayuko: Someone told me about a restaurant where they were like 'you go to that kind of place?' (writing)
Jun: Ah, I definitely go! (writing)
Mayuko: Eh, is that so-
Jun: In that as well, things like standing-eating soba. (writing; where you stand at a bar to eat your food)
Mayuko: It might be standing-eating soba, at a restaurant in front of the station, going and quickly eating, I heard that about you-
Jun: Um, that would be standing-eating sushi wouldn't it ne! (writing)
Mayuko: Ah, standing-eating-
Jun: I've gone occasionally.
Mayuko: Ah, that's right, that's it!
Jun: I like that kind of thing! (writing)
Mayuko: Isn't it a lot of trouble getting noticed? (writing) Isn't you life a lot of trouble? (writing) In terms of lots of people.
Jun: Or rather, my face...is kind of showy...
[writing: Showy face]
Mayuko: I mean, if you go out without make-up, hiding under a hat, you'll get recognized won't you? (writing)
Jun: that's right. There were a lot of times I focussed on that kind of thing, but it was in vain ne. (writing) Constantly.
Mayuko: I see...I was thinking that it must be a lot of trouble to go places and have everyone getting excited over it.
Jun: Well, but it's a happy thing ne. (writing)
Mayuko: That's right ne.
13:06
{the announcer says Jun has said this is the first time in his life he's fried tempuraXD Mayuko says it's a mystery why he's putting the tempura
in the oil by hand, and he says it's because he thought that would keep the oil from splashing out, but she says he might burn his hands>_< he says
he's okay...and then gets burnt by flying oilXD The announcer says it's now time for the main part, the nattou tempura; he mixes the nattou well,
scoops it up with a spoon and portions out bite-sized amounts. Once it's been completely enrobed in tempura batter it goes into the oil. Mayuko
wonder how it will turn out and Jun says he's never eaten it. When he puts it in he says it's swelling;P Mayuko says it looks extremely delicious
and tells Jun to try eating it. the announcer says it's done deliciously, but how is the flavor, Jun takes a bite and says it's good:) mayuko asks
if even the children who like nattou will like it, and he says it'll definitely go over well. The announcer says that Ohno is communicating with
the children using his special caricatures, because you have to score points outside of cooking as well;P It seems that Daigo-kun is the model...
and as you would expect of Ohno it's perfect^^ Once the caricature is done Daigo-kun...}
15:07
Ohno: Does it look like you? (writing)
[writing: Embarrassed]
Ohno: Why are you hiding?
15:14
{the announcer says Jun's second item is nattou soba. he says he's putting in the buckwheat soba, stirs it, and as he's going to pour out the water
he says that it's a waste of good soba water and Mayuko agrees. For the topping he's using yam, okra and nattou. Then she re-introduces the food,
Ohno's nattou cha-han and miso soup, the cha-han being a mixture of the kid's beloved nattou with his mother's recipe, the simple miso and eggplant
concoction is a straight pitch to home plate. meanwhile Jun has the soba nattou and tempura, a generous mixture of tempura seafood, vegetables and
nattou, hile the cold soba has three toppings to choose from. Time to eat! Mayuko says this means that's it's done, Jun apologizes for keeping
them waiting and Mayuko does the same then asks if they're hungry. Daigo grunts yes and Jun laughs that they're tension has dropped quite a bit;P
Then Mayuko makes them all say 'itadakimasu' together before they begin with Jun's soba.}
17:02
Musashi: Eh? This...this...
Mayuko: Go ahead.
Jun: You're putting it on the soba? Put it on here.
Amari: Put it on.
Musashi: The huge one! (writing)
Mayuko: Yes, go ahead. Put it the soup and gobble it down.
Musashi: Delicious! (writing)
Mayuko: Delicious?
Amari: What is that called?
Jun: Shrimp.
Amari: *unintelligible*
Jun: He's eating an extraordinary amount of soba.
Ohno: Interesting.
Jun: Delicious? Is it delicious Musashi? (writing)
Mayuko: So? Delicious? Cute cute!
[Announcer: Next, Ohno's cha-han.]
Mayuko: Try eating some cha-han, with a spoon. With a spoon Amari ne.
Ohno: Eat some cha-han Amari.
Amari: I want to eat some cha-han.
ohno: You want to eat some?
Amari: Yeah.
Ohno: Delicious?
Amari: Delicious! (writing)
[Announcer: Well then, it's judgement time! Amari-chan, Musashi-kun, Daigo-kun, we'll leave it to you ne!]
Mayuko: Tell me whose was the most delicious. Tell me which of these was the most delicious, go sit down. Which was the most delicious? Musashi which
was the most delicious?
Musashi: This.
Mayuko: Which one, which one? Which? Which one is 'this'? This? This, or this? Which? This, this-
Musashi: This.
Mayuko: This? This was the most delicious?
Musashi: Yeah.
Jun: That's one vote!
Mayuko: That's one vote for the tempura!
Jun: Thanks!
Mayuko: Daigo. Daigo. Dai-chan. Which was the most delicious, tell me. Daigo, which was the most delicious, which was the most delicious?
Daigo: This.
Mayuko: Ohhh! There's one vote, yayy! Amari.
Jun: So with this Amari is the last to choose.
Mayuko: Which was the most delicious?
Jun: Which was the most delicious?
Amari: That.
Mayuko: The soba?
Jun: I did it!
Mayuko: Which means that...
Jun: Yes.
Mayuko: ...it's Matsumoto-wsan's win!
Jun: Thanks!
Mayuko: He said [I don't feel like losing today] Ohno-kun. (writing)
Jun: So I made the kitchen super messyXD (wriitng)
Mayuko: Super duper.
Ohno: I guess cha-han is no good after all? (writing)
[writing: Cleaning the cooking utensils]
Ohno: I've gotten used to losing. I guess cha-han is no good. I've never won with cha-han. (writing)
Staff: What are you making next time? (writing)
Ohno: Cha-han! I'm going to do cha-han until I win with it! (writing)
[announcer: After dinner they're playing happily when...]
Jun: I won at dinner-
Ohno: She's back!
jun: Welcome back~.
Mayuko: Welcome back~.
Jun: that's the menu we made today.
Masako: Ah, nattou cha-han!
Ohno: I lost. I lost. I lost. I guess cha-han is no good~. Alright! I'm going to make cha-han next time too! (writing)
Jun: This time I planned to make it so there were a lot of ways one could eat. The nattou tempura was a new flavor. (writing)
Musashi: Embarrassing~! (writing)
Jun: He was s-uper tired looking until just awhile ago though... (writing)
[Announcer: next they're attacking your house! (writing)]
Jun/Ohno: We made dinner~!
Jun: You could say it might be because they're halfs, but each and e very reaction is cute. (writing) When they're eating and you ask 'is it
delicious?' they say 'delicious~'.
Aiba: I see~.
Jun: That was cute huh.
Sho: I see.
Jun: So, without delay, today ne, we're going to have everyone reproduce the moment where something happened that they though was cute.
[writing: Let's act out 'cute'!]
Sho: What does that mean? Does that means we're acting out the moment when we thought something was cute?
Jun: That's right.
Ninomiya: Then Aiba-san.
Aiba: Yes! Then let's go to a class reunion! (writing)
[writing: Why?]
Nino: That's not it.
Aiba: The reason is, when people of the same age group drink together there's naturally going to be a punishment game! (writing)
Sho: I see.
Aiba: It becomes like 'ehh~, I don't wanna~' right. The cute pose! When the girl's getting punished! (writing)
Jun: Yes. Okay, begin!
Aiba: 'Uwa, this is seriously embarrassing~' wa-wa-wasshoi! (writing)
[writing: he just wants to do that...]
Sho: You just wanted to do that!
Aiba: Wrong, it's the girl's punishment, and when she's like 'which should I hide~'. And it's like 'you don't have to hide either'. (writing) I
thought that was cute. So, does Riidaa have one he's thought of?
Ohno: When a girl throws a ball. (writing) They do it like this. Isn't that cute?
Aiba: So then, do see you next week ne.
Sho: Throw the 'see you next week'.
Ohno: See you next week! (writing)
Omg, when Jun said he was going to hit the kid I nearly died laughingXDD Ah~, yappari we are kindred spirits;P he even had to put up with getting glue smeared all over his arm, what a trooper!XD But he won, so I guess it was worth it;P And btw, the cut text, for those of you who don't know, is referring to OhnoXD Einstein's definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...;P I don't know if I should really cheer him on, but ganbatte Ohno-kun!XD And Aiba just can't get enough of that pose huh...O_o I love his sly remark at the end there, I can't resist that kind of thingXD
And, with the help of a dear friend (hontou ni arigatou>_<)for a certain part I was stuck on, I managed to finish the translation of Still:3

**************************************** *********
you said 'someday', I remembered those seemingly forgettable words
on the path, calling on the seasons, the wind stops
and at your voice I come back to myself, my usual livelihood continues
anything and everything sparkled from that day on
when I shut the door there's no end to the things that seem like they'll disappear
I left unable to be honest, the fleeting everyday
at that time we probably both walked out
on different paths
until the time when someday those feelings release their radiance
because when the wheels turn the journey will begin
I'll softly embrace the past without turning away anymore
even the secrets that I'd always hidden I came to convey only to you
no matter what the time my everything is probably still...
the noisy cityscape, people whose names I don't even know passing each other by
everyone has someone special in that way, burning their heart
when it seems like I'll be crushed under the numerous things I'm carrying I remember
we came to be always connected, because those hands weren't a lie
the day that we can't go abck to is precious, but tomorrow is waiting for us as well
because we can still go no matter where
*rap*
"what was it you were saying to me that day"
what you were saying doesn't matter anymore ne
meeting harshly, understanding more and more, the seasons draw near, crying horribly
you are you, drawing your dream so big
I'll wish for your success from here
"I changed because there's no future from just waiting, because it won't start here"
the dark road ahead we can't see
even if that were to be a detour
right let's both go a little forward
with pained expressions
this is not a farewell it's another new beginning for our chance encounters
only I want to meet you even more, still...
someday smilingly we'll reunite, yes definitely
at that time we probably both walked out
on different paths
until the time when someday we understand the meaning of our having met
because when the wheels turn the journey will begin
I'll softly embrace the past without turning away anymore
I felt the little twinge again when I translated this one...the slight internal click that tells me I'm touching something special, it's like sublimation of thought...which is the best way I can describe it, although it's probably nigh incomprehensible^^; But I really like this song now, more than the first time I heard it, translating it gave it a deeper impact on my heart:3 And I think it fits really well with the other two songs on the single...<3
Plus, of course, I couldn't not do the latest Music Station bit;P Only the talk though, that's all I found^^;
Tamori: Next is Arashi.
Aiba/Nino/Sho: Your favor please.
Mariko: Your favor please.
Nino: Thanks~.
Mariko: With only the Dome concert left, all of you were able to finish your nationwide arena tour. It seems that there was a slight
problem with regards to Sakurai-san that occurred at the lodging place in Sendai.
Aiba: That's right! He's the worst!
Mariko: What happened?
Aiba: If you were ask what's the worst-
Mariko: Yes!
Aiba: - for the first time in a long while the Arashi members were split into two rooms, a 3 person room and a 2 person room.
Mariko: Yes.
Aiba: So, since it was the first time in a long while I didn't really, ne, remember, but Sakurai is an incredible snorer! Really!
Sho: Ahh, you're going to say that on tv?
Aiba: This is amazing!
Sho: Is it okay to say this on tv?
Aiba: Shall I give you an example? *snore* He makes that kind of incredible noise, up until here Riidaa and I put up with it.
Mariko: Yes.
Aiba: And then all of a sudden something went 'wheee! wheee!'. From Sakurai's body. I was like 'what is that??' Once I picked up
his cellphone, but then I knew it wasn't the cellphone. So when I looked closely at Sakurai's body it was teeth grinding!
(involuntary nocturnal teeth grinding, usually brought on by stress)
Mariko: Ehhh~.
Sho: I'm going to do this one more time but, is it okay to say this on tv?
Aiba: It goes 'wheeee! wheee!'.
Ohno: Normally it's something like 'grind grind'.
Tamori: That's right, but it isn't, it's not 'grind grind'.
Sho: I guess I produced a kind of cute-ish sound.
Ohno: You made it a lot.
Aiba: Then the two of us, although we had a live show the next day, we had no sleep at all. Ohno and I.
Sho: That's a pity ne, I slept like a baby;P
Aiba: You slept?
Tamori: So you yourself have no awareness of it, teething grinding and snoring?
Sho: I do. When I wake up I'm extremely tired. So I want to avoid sleepin as much as possible.
Tamori/Mariko: Ah, is that so?
Sho: My jaw starts to hurt an incredible amount.
Tamori: Well it seems that it's brought on by stress, teeth-grinding.
Sho: But, you see, since the two of them stayed over for the first time in a long while it was great that they could see a new side of
me, as part of our eighth year ne. Mm.
Aiba: Ehhhh?!
Mariko: What is it?
Aiba: Well well well...
Sho: It's great isn't it. It is ne.
Aiba: Well, we learned a new reality ne.
Sho: If you'd like, next time the two of you-
Nino: Ah, we're taken care of.
Jun: We're okay.
Nino: It's okay.
Sho: If you'd like-
Aiba: It's pretty- it's pretty good. In reality.
Nino: No no no, I mean, you weren't able to sleep right?
Aiba: Yeah, but ne, if you can get used to it, the 'wheee! wheee!'....
Jun: I'd kind of like to try hearing the 'wheee!' ne;P
Aiba: It's amazing, really. The 'wheee!'.
Tamori: That ne...
Mariko: Yes.
Tamori: ...the snoring alone really intrigues you ne.
Aiba: It's intriguing ne~.
Jun: It's intriguing ne.
Tamori: The two of you couldn't sleep ne.
Sho: Though I slept like a baby~.
Tamori: Well, who knows what it's really like. So, please go stand by.
Nino: Your favor please.
Mariko: If you please. As you would think ne, all of them talked about this as the first time they've discovered this in their eight years
as a group ne, that Sakurai-san-
Tamori: They didn't know for eight years huh.
Mariko: Ne~. It's an unexpected side ne, kind of ne.
Tamori: Ah, but even just the snoring ne, you really won't sleep, but adding in teeth-grinding is amazing.
Mariko: Ah~, is that so?
Tamori: Yeah, you really can't sleep, I know it.
Mariko: So, the new song this time should be celebrated as it's the 20th single ne. So, let's move along.
Tamori: Let's move along!
Mariko: Well then, this is Arashi with Happiness, which shined the brightest as our number 1 this week. Go ahead.
Haha, poor Sho!XD What a terrible combination...^^; He should really think about getting a mouth guard so he doesn't permanently damage his teeth>_< And maybe some sedativesXD And poor Aiba and Ohno, unable to sleep because of that freaky noise;P Which...honestly, I'd like to hear just once, cause it seems humanly impossible to produceO_o But I was really happy to see their normal group dynamic back again, and the dance was even cuter than usual!X3 Seriously, they pulled out all the stops<3 That part when they pan through Jun's exuberant smile, Aiba's super cute snarl-ish singing and Nino's big-eyed grin, that's just pure love<3 Then, of course, Jun's head bob during 'tachi agaru' (stand up)XDD

Ah~, I don't get tired of watching that;P
But that's not all folks...
fantazomai requested a translation of Jun's interview in Act magazine, 2005 for a school project (gotta help my fellow studentsXD), so I'll share it here too^^
I won't post the scan since there's no pic in it (and I wouldn't want to steal her bandwidth;P), but imagine a big page full of lots of complicated wordsXD This was a nice little challenge for me, I haven't had this much fun learning new words in a long time^^ But...there went my whole morning^^; Anyway, it's really good, so enjoy=)
Matsumoto Jun Interview
Matsumoto Jun
Born in the Tokyo Metropolitan area in 1983. Debuted as one of the members of the Johnny's Idol group Arashi in 1999. Well-known for his activities
in TV, radio, and variety shows. Has come to perform in numerous projects since his Junior era, was selected for the starring role in [Kindaichi
Shounen no Jikenbou] where his acting skills were highly valued when he played the second generation Kindaichi Shounen. Since then in [Gokusen],
[Kimi wa Petto], as well as Arashi's first starring movie [Pikanchi] and it's sequel [Pikanchi Double], and other attention-gathering projects he
enacts the quirks of each role maginificently and is in the middle of broadening his wide range of activities as an actor.
[Tokyo Tower]
Director - Minamoto Takashi, Starring - Kurogi Hitomi, Okada Junichi, Terajima Shinobu, Matsumoto Jun and others, Distribution - Toei
Holding both intelligence and beauty Shifumi (Kurogi Hitomi) and university student Toru (Okada Junichi) are lovers who have fallen in love
without regard for their ages or positions in society. Toru's friend Kouji (Matsumoto Jun), despite having a lover his own age, indulges in
love with an older woman, Kimiko (Terajima Shinobu). The two groups are both enjoying romance, but the women already have life partners...
A love that surpassed the age difference. The two married women and the two university students.
[Love isn't something you choose, it's something you fall into] - Gaining the overwhelming support of female readers Eguni Kaori's novel of the
same name is the original material, [Tokyo Tower] depicts youths and housewives...the love stories of two groups of men and women who've fallen
in a love that surpasses age and social position. In contrast to the connection between Shifumi and Toru, who are the main focus of the story,
which is so beautiful as to disconnect from reality, are kimiko and Kouji who, faithful to their own desires, mutually want to collide with
everything in the other. Housewives and youths tied together by desires...the youth, Kouji, who was necessary for these rich love scenes and
daring psychological descriptions was portrayed by Matsumoto Jun. He who has been forced to mature this allure in numerous projects up until now.
Romance with an older woman...of which the memory of him in the role of the human pet 'kept' by an older womahn in [Kimi wa Petto] is still fresh,
but with this work that kind of thing just isn't sufficient. He said [I wanted to make it so the dirty parts of a human being could be seen], but
surely the Matsumoto Jun of this project...rather, Kouji, who he is playing, is dirtied by the greed of his own desires...and is dreadfully
beautiful.
- "Petto" also has some of this, but in the current project you are continuing the romance with a married woman...an older woman, but on a side note,
do you like older women?
[I like them]
- What about the Kimiko-lik type?
[Haha...impossible (laughs). It's probably impossible you know~. Up to that point our bodies would be compatible but...what kind of thing it would
turn out to be I don't know. Wouldn't the main point be that Kimiko and Kouji seem to be connected via their bodies...]
- Do you think the kind of male-female connection through desire that Kouji and Kimiko have can actually exist?
[Can't it exist? Yeah...I think that being faithful to desire is a certain kind of purity.]
- Even though he has Yuri as his girlfriend he seeks out Kimiko with completely different parts of himself...what do you think of this state of
affairs?
[...um~, you see, I can make sense of the way of thinking. It would be good if I could only understand it...I know that there are people who can. But
I can't.]
- You can't?
[I can't...yes. Nor do I want to. Because I don't even like being made to. I mean, when you're dating someone you desire their body, if they were to
desire something outside of you...that's a problem (laughs). Only, I can grasp the fact that that kind of thing happens...I suppose]
- Furthermore there's clearly a "husband" depicted in Kimiko's surrounding circumstances isn't there...
[Yeah. It's unethical isn't it. But I think that ultimately I'm (referring to Kouji) not unethical, but rather in love]
Overcoming various "walls", with the guys be able to reach "true love"?
- Where would that difference be?
[U~m...wouldn't it be in doing away with one's escape?]
- Meaning that being unethical has an escape?
[That's right. In terms of an escape...I don't know if this is one, but Shifumi's line is [What's great about being married is that you don't have
to eat dinner alone]. I...don't like these words. Saying 'for the time being I'm in a secure situation'...that happens a lot. Also, when girls say
[I'm in love with someone so I want you to break up with me], if there's someone you like then you should start by breaking up with him and trying
to make a go of it over there...that's what I think. Somehow...giving yourself that kind of insurance as a consequence of thinking only of yourself,
because when I'm romantically involved that's the thing I most want not to do, being unethical...I just don't understand that well]
- In that sense you might be in a very distant place from where Kouji is right.
[I am? Yeah...that's right isn't it. But you see, in a sense I understand it. But the things we want are different. It's not like I don't have female
friends...but I don't particularly seek a bodily connection there. Kouji is kind of more...working instinctively. He's a kind of person to whom it doesn't
matter one way or another, who enjoys circumstances where it doesn't matter one way or another. So I think that basic element is different you see]
- Well then, the rich love scenes. What kind of experience was this for you Matsumoto-kun?
[What kind of experience you say...(laughs). U~m...not really anything special. I think it's no different from when Toru is reading a book in his
room. When they were thinking about what's needed to depict Toru in a shirt period of time, or to depict Kouji in a short period of time, in Kouji's
situation it was just that this would be the most effective]
- What do you think about when acting out a love scene?
[Eh...?!(laughs). Half of it would be...thinking about showing a film-like technique, but half of it might be having fun]
- Having fun...?
[Ah, it's different...(laughs). After all the main point is to use your body, although I think there are sensations associated with expressing the
role if you operate only on that...you can't give a reaction you see. When everything becomes planned out like "I do this because he operates like
that" then it doesn't mean anything. Therefore, I have fun with the state of not knowing how to operate...it's about you needing to be able to
create the circumstances where you can operate, by jumping into that situation.]
- Including those love scenes, how was the Kouji that you saw yourself?
Having broken new ground as an actor we listen to Arashi's Matsumoto Jun
[It's my impression so I can't be sure but, I liked Kouji's 'dirty' feel. Okada-kun's Toru has an incredibly...refined feel to him doesn't he? In the
way of being an antithesis to that...there was a moment when I'd just started playing Kouji that I thought 'this guy's extremely dirty huh'...even
his face spins away from dignity (laughs). But Kouji doesn't think anything of getting dirty. Because I thought it was good like that I'm glad that
it came out like that]
- What is your impression of Terajima Shinobu-san, who plays your partner?
[I was able to enjoy acting with Terajima-san more than I imagined. In the beginning there I had a cognizance of her being a big actress, and as I
expected when I went to the set there were a lot of discoveries like "You operate like that in that kind of place?!"...even though I was kind
of lost like that Terajima-san responded skillfully and the two of us were able to naturally perform together. Conversely she also listened to my
opinions when I said things like [I want to do it like this...]...it was interesting on set. Performing with Terajima-san was truly fun]
- So perhaps you really are the type that fully throws themselves into acting?
[Hm~ if you were to ask which one...I think I'm the kind who enters into it]
- What would performing be to you Matsumoto-kun?
[What indeed? Because that person is that person alone. Acting out that person is really acting out the way of walking, the way they move their hands,
if those detailed gestures aren't each part of that person I think you can't make them come into existence. Therefore I think that, above and beyond
comprehending what kind of person they are I think that the things you actually do at that place are performing. I know that it's fiction, but if the
person acting it speaks of it in terms of fiction then I don't think it will come to life. If you don't have that person inside of yourself then
when a time comes that you can't predict something you aren't able to cope. In that as well, your lighter fell...you become unable to pick it up]
- On top of which, it won't be Matsumoto Jun picking up that lighter...is what you're saying.
[That's right, that's right. I think that's something extremely important. In tems of reflexes Matsumoto Jun will operate without thinking, but I
think in the moment I do that I have a ways to go. If the role doesn't enter into you that much then it won't come to life...or so I think. In actuality
that goes on without end...but at the time when I enter into a performance I want to be in that kind of attitude. That's how I always think]
Mmm, I love his articles<3 His views on things, like being 'unethical' are so interesting to hear, and his method of method acting as well. Plus, having his thoughts on the movie broaden my understanding of the plot a little (I watched it without subs, before I was quite so fluent^^;;). But most of all, it's just feeling the Jun-ness of it<3 It's been a long time....X3
Well, hope you enjoyed the fruits of my excessXD Wish me luck in school this week, I haven't even officially started yet and I already had to tell my professors that I'm going to eb away the last week of September for a work conference in Edmonton>_< Gah, for a shy perfectionist like me that's downright nerve-wracking...XS Oh well, what's done is done...gotta live with it now^^; Need some more Happiness!XD Take care minna, I hope you lvoe autumn as much as I do<3~:)

もう、夢でもいいけど、もっと近ずきたい>_<心を許したい。。。愛を感じたい。。。こ の思いを誰かに届きたい。。。
Ohno musing that she really doesn't know. The announcer says that although the mother asked them for that...}
Mayuko tells
them to decide with that, and Jun says there's been no hints at allXD The announcer asks what kind of me nu the two have thought of using these
ingredients...}
4:55
{the announcer says Jun is going to make the nattou into tempura and mix it with soba.}
5:01
Jun: Next, Riidaa, you go.
Ohno: Yes.
Jun: Nattou cha-han. You're dojng cha-han again? (writing)
Ohno: Have you ever eaten nattou cha-han? (writing)
Amari: Yeah, I've had nattou cha-han.
Jun: You have?
Amari: I have. (writing)
Jun: You have, do you like it?
Amari: I like it. (writing)
Ohno: Alright.
Jun: Ah, I see....
5:12
{the announcer says is going to compete by addin nattou to his specialty, cha-han.}
(sasuga Ohno-kun...XD) Mayuko agrees and the announcer says is looking good.}
He just puts the nattou in the heated miso brioth and adds some chopped up eggplant, very simple...
but the flavor?}
Mayuko finds his cutting method scary and asks what he's doing, and he says he's thinning itXD She
asks if this is because he couldn't do everything with the ink beforehand and he says no, she asks if there's some other kind of thought behind it
and he says that this is how he has it pictured in his head:3 The announcer says next are the shrimp, after taking off the shell he slits the back
and pulls out the veins. Then he makes the preparations for the tempura vegetables as well.}
The announcer says that Ohno is communicating with
the children using his special caricatures, because you have to score points outside of cooking as well;P It seems that Daigo-kun is the model...
and as you would expect of Ohno it's perfect^^ Once the caricature is done Daigo-kun...}
Then Mayuko makes them all say 'itadakimasu' together before they begin with Jun's soba.}

****************************************
you said 'someday', I remembered those seemingly forgettable words
on the path, calling on the seasons, the wind stops
and at your voice I come back to myself, my usual livelihood continues
anything and everything sparkled from that day on
when I shut the door there's no end to the things that seem like they'll disappear
Plus, of course, I couldn't not do the latest Music Station bit;P Only the talk though, that's all I found^^;
Tamori: Next is Arashi.

But that's not all folks...

Hope you enjoy them^^
Really?? The same kind of high-pitched noise?XD Wow, that must have been interesting...:3
My favourite part of MS was the rainbow pants and the nice view of everyone's assests XD And ofcourse they had a really nice close up of Sho's precious at one point (
haha, I'm tempted to ask if I can sub MS, but I know CK would want to do it!

YEA!! My desktop publishing teacher will have a translation to go with her article~~. ^_^'
Glad it's up to your standards^^ I purposely did a 'professional' translation of it, was a little odd challenge for myself;)
The pic is one from the Popolo I scanned, page 11^^ The zip is a few posts back, with the scans of Myojo, hope that helps;P
Lots of love to you! \o/
;*
Arigatou!X3
I think I love it way too much when Jun has to deal with kids. Especially when said kids are rubbing glue on him and messing up his hair!! I laughed so much, and then when I read that he was actually threatining them I just laughed even harder XDD
The music staion was cute too. I can just imagine aiba trying to investigate where the "whee whee" sound was coming from. Which leads me to the wonder what leader and aiba were doing the rest of the night...
Probably just discussing ways to keep Sho quiet XDD
Good luck with your classes! BTW I like your icon ^^
When they were messing his hair I thought I'd die with laughter, his expression was priceless!XDD They were empty threats, but you never know with Jun...XD
Yeah, picturing Aiba the detective is realyl amusing too, and I can imagine Aiba and Ohno sitting there wondering if they could put a pillow over his head without killing him...XD
demo..are you just going to do the new eps from now on?
because i was looking forward to shukudai #31 but then you left right before you got to it T_T
Well..that's what I was planning on doing^^; Which one is ep.31?? Are you the same person who asked me before about this one?;P
After reading your translation I think so far for me every songs in Happiness Single is the best single ever ne. I like the idea, the realistic, the meaning of those 3 songs are really connected. Happiness is always around but how well can you manage it to be with you. Somebody help me please I'm falling...... deeply in love with Arashi and their song's writer. They 've done a great job.
I love reading Jun's article (by yr translation) He's really amazing and very interesting person. The way he conveyed his thought was clever and very interesting point of view. Thank you for good article and a translation.
Nyanchan good luck with your school and your work as well but don't forget to take good care of yourself . Autumn is my favorite season. It's so colorful don't you think?
I would tend to agree with you about the Happiness single...I think the quality of Arashi's songs keeps getting better and better<3 And connecting them is perfect^^ Keeping Happiness, gaining Happiness...they are hard things to do, and we all need hope to keep trying...>_<
Sou ne, Jun's articles are love<3 I only wish he would do more of these kind of articles so we could hear more of his thoughts and feelings:3 I'm really happy to be able to help everyone enjoy itX3
Thank you so much, I'll do my best, and you take care as well ne:3 I love autumn, the colors, the chill in the air, the sound of the leaves on the ground...it's my second favorite season:D
Not only a MMA with Jun (aaaaaaaaaah *_* I missed him so much! I hope you'll think about catching his recent episodes because they are really interesting and funny... I'd love to see them properly subbed... *_*) but an interview about Tokyo Tower... I love that film, it's really intense, with two wonderful actors (plus... Okada is my niban XD)... it's interesting reading something from Jun himself about this film.
good luck with school too ^_^
Of course I want to do his recent episodesXD It's all a matter of time though^^; Oooh, Okada is your ni-ban ne...you got lucky with the movie then, having them both in various compromising situationsXD I never got a chance to hear about the film from jun's point of view, so this was really interesting for me<3
Thanks a lot, you too!:D
Yes Still complements the other songs on the single... so pretty...
I'm very impressed with how well they go together, it would be great to hear them all live together:3
PS: although I'm thankfull please don't overdo yourself okay...
Hai, I'll try to exercise some moderation^^
Thanks for the MS. I want to know the complete story of Sho snoring XDDDD
I still don't mind lying beside him though *cough*And thanks for the MMA as well, I always like Bangohan!!! I will sub it this weekend :D :D :DThank youuuuu
You're welcome, I knew you'd love itXD I'm sure if you were lying beside him he wouldn't be doing much snoring...XDD *evil grin*;P Take your time, you do so much!X3
Take care ne:3
good luck with school!!
Thank you, best wishes to you as well:3
cause i don't know japanese lang~ anymore...
Anymore? You used to know it?^^
THANKS FOR THE TRANSLATION!!
I've been madly looking for the subtitles of Boku wa Imouto, the only thing I've seen translated is a trailer that you and Tenjostyle translated. I 've looked everywhere, I have the movie but it has not any subtitle.
Me and some friends are from Chile and we are huge fans of Jun so we need to see that movie T_T , we wanted the english subtitles in order to translate it for all the latin fans.
Do you know where can I get them?
Or who can do it?
thank you
Vale
Ah, no one has translated the movie yet as far as I know...and unfortunately I don't have anywhere near enough time to even attempt it, so I won't be doing it:S But, perhaps you should check the forums at d-addicts.com , someone there might know if it's getting subbed^^ I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but I hope you can find what you are looking for:)
I really like the lyrics for Still, especially the line: "I changed because there's no future from just waiting, because it won't start here"
That must have been a noisy night with Sho snoring and grinding his teeth. I would have been wondering what all that noise was too lol. poor Aiba and Ohno, but if Sho grinds his teeth often then I agree that he should get a mouth guard or something, that can't e god for your teeth at all >_
The lyrics for Still are sad, but inspriring ne:3 It is almost like that song was made for me right now...>_<
I know I couldn't sleep with that going on nearby, I cna't even sleep when the fan's onXD I hope someone else tells him to go get a motuh guard, he wouldn't want to wear his teeth away>_
This MMA is great! I missed Jun in the show!
I'm just happy to see him in a lot of recent episodes!
I missed him too~X3 I hope he does a lot of episodes in a row now to make up for being gone so longXD
