I'm back!XD I told you it wouldn't take so long^^ But I still haven't managed to reply to everything, I'm very sorry>_< I'll get on that tomorrow, I just wanted to post this tonight so I could make my (self-imposed) deadline;) It was a hard day at work today, I'm giving re-training to many employees, and some of them are using it as an excuse to vent all their frustrations from years of work, I'm doing my best to keep things positive and on track (by providing chocolate;P) but at the end of the day it leaves me pretty worn out. Besides, it's 5 hours of talking and crowd control. I have to do it again on Thursday and Friday...but at least I have tomorrow off:)
Oh! On an interesting and very curious side note...someone sent me book in the mail, but didn't reveal who they are or whyO_o I got a package from a local bookseller, no return address, and inside was a book, no note or anything, with the price tag still on it^^; That was friday, since then I've been waiting for someone to be like 'oh, did you get the book I sent...?' but no one's owned up to it!XD I like to think I have a secret admirer...but probably not;P
Anyway, today I have the first half of the thrid Odoroki Sp!:D

[Announcer: The Super Intensive Series, Part 2. Tonight Arashi risks their lives to investigate the dream
experiments that several scholars representing Japan have always wanted to try. Thought up by a scholar: if
you made a boat solely out of leaves would you be able to make it all the way to Tokyo Bay?]
Sho: Wait for us Tokyo Bay~! (writing)
[Announcer: Surprises come one after another. And in the end what is the fate of the leaf boat? A crowd favorite,
this time there's another series of schoking images from zero gravity experiments. Thought up by a scholar:
what will happen if you run an electric fan in zero gravity? Even the scholars are excited by the unexpected
result. Thought up by a scholar: what is the depth limit for the underwater ninja skill? MatsuJun's in a bind!
Furthermore, thought up by a scholar: if you were to stick a half cut melon and watermelon together and leave it,
how would it grow? Seeing it is surprising, eating it is surprising, the shockingly interesting item is
brought to the studio for testing. Furthermore, how would you be reflected if you got inside a circular
mirror? What is that mysterious world like? A series of results that surpass the scholars' expectations.
Odoroki no Arashi! Experiments of the Century that even Scholars can't predict Special 3.]
Sho: This time as well we have a line-up of scholars representing Japan. We risked our lives to investigate
the experiments that they've wanted to try since childhood.
Ogura: How was it?
Nino: This time I really feel like this show should just end.
Ogura: Who is this individual who keeps signing the other members up for this show?
[writing: This person?]
Aiba: No no, not me. I said it's not me! (writing)
Jun: But we really did risk our lives ne. (writing)
Ogura: And watching that excitedly is Kitano-sensei!
Kitano: Well, thank you very much to all of Arashi for volunteering their bodies to perform experiments for
our selfish whims. Because being able to adventure is proof that you're young. (writing)
Nino: We don't want to adventure!
[Announcer: This time the people who thought up the various outrageous and shocking experiments were these
11 scholars representing Japan. Physics, botany, kinesiology and many other fields are represented, and we
have them prepared to evaluate the experiments from every angle and give their commentary on the results.
Professors, even if your predictions are wrong, there will be no excuses.]
Sho: The first experiment that a scholar wanted to try is this one, go ahead! What will happen if you run
an electric fan in zero gravity? (writing)
Ogura: There it is ne~. The zero gravity experiment.
Sho: That had a real influence last time ne.
[Announcer: The zero gravity experiments that had a huge influence last time. When they broke a raw egg where
their bodies floated around like fluff...my how strange. Even though the shell is broken the inside won't
come out. When Ohno shakes his hand it finalyl breaks free, slowly glides through the air, and plops against
the wall. The main experiment they did last time in that zero gravity was: can butterflies properly fly in
zero gravity? Upon which there was the startling result that the butterflies spin around in place. This is
because the butterflies are trying to fly in exactly the same way as they would in normal gravity, but they
can't regain their balance so this is the result. And what was proposed this time was yet another zero gravity
experiment: if you ran an electric fan in circumstances similar to mid-air exactly what would happen?]
Sho: Which scholar would it be?
Ogura: Kojima again?!;P
Sho: He looks incredibly serious huh.
[Announcer: The one who thought up this experiment is Kojima Noboru-sensei, who studies things like wind flow
at Meiji University.]
Ogura: What kind of (predicted) patterns have you thought up? (writing)
Kojima: Yes, there's 4 patterns ne. First, one is that if you let it go in mid air I think it would proceed
along in the direction opposite the side the air is coming out, under the force of the flow it's creating.
[Announcer: The second prediction is, under the very same power that it itself is producing it will spin
around backwards using it's pedestal as the axis. The third predictions is, due to the recoil of the spinning
blades the body of it will spin in the opposite direction. Among those the one that Kojima-sensei supports
the most is...]
Kojima: I think that wouldn't it end up like this? (writing)
Ogura: So that would be where the body of it spins in the opposite direction?
Kojima: Mmhmm. Then, after that, there may be another kind of pattern.
Ogura: Then you'll definitely be right professor;P (writing)
Nino: That's not four patterns is it, ne.
Sho: All of our guests, what do you think?
Mami: I think it will be number 1 ne. (writing) It'll go backwards. Since the blades spinning like this means
that this kind of breeze comes out it'll go backwards ne.
Ogura: That's right, it'll back up.
Sho: I see.
Sawamura:I get the feeling that once they (the blades) start moving it'll simply meander, like funyafunyafunya.
(writing)
Jun: What are you describing?;P
Sawamura: What would it be...like funyafunyafunya. (writing)
Nino: You haven't described it yet-
Jun: You just want to say that!
Nino: Sorry.
Sho: What about you Satoda-san?
Mai: I don't think I've ever been somewhere with zero gravity... (writing)
Nino: It's okay.
Jun: I definitely think you haven't. (writing)
Mai: So if you went somewhere with zero gravity and turned on an electric fan I think that it would break apart
under the incredible strain. (writing)
Sho: It would break??
Mai: Because I think an electric fan probably doesn't have any strength of immunity. (writing)
Ijuu: Because it has no strength of immunity ne, when it comes to zero gravity.
Mai: That's right.
Sho: Sugemoto-sensei. (writing)
Sugamoto: It's number 4 ne. (writing)
Jun: Number 4?
Sho: Number 4?
Sugamoto: It'll spin, but because the centrifugal forces are different I think that due to the different forces
it will spin opposite the blades as well as go backwards.
Sho: it'll spin *and* go backwards?
Ogura: Spin while going backwards?
Sugamoto: Well, I'm not confident about it... (writing)
Sho: You have no confidence in it?;P
Nino: He was really fired up about it just now;)
[Announcer: So once we try putting the scholars' predictions together: number 1, it'll float backwards from
the direction of the airflow, biologist Ikeda and Shipbuilder Shouji-sensei. Number 2, it'll spin around using
the base as its axis, thermal engineer Hara-sensei only. Number 3, the body of it will start spinning in the
opposite direction of the blades, this has many votes, 7 including Kojima and Kitano-sensei. And number 4 is
physicist Sugamoto-sensei who predicted that it will fly backwards while spinning in circles. This time the
other zero gravity experiments they tried are: what will happen if you eat ramen? What will happen if you put dry ice
in water? What will happen of you open a confetti ball? and many others.]
Aiba: I'd like to do some zero gravity experiments~!
Jun: Yes yes!
Aiba: Is this your first time?
Jun: it is my first time.
Aiba: Riding in this jet? I have something I want to say, as Mr. zero gravity. (wriitng)
Jun: Yes? Then please give me some advice.
Aiba: When you get inside there don't worry about your hairstyle. (writing) Got it? It'll go all over the place, don't
worry about it.
Jun: Yes, got it;P
[Announcer: In the end, what will happen if you run an electric fan in zero gravity?]
Nino: You don't need that!
[Announcer: They'll be doing the experiment in the sme Gulfstream 2 jet aircraft as last time. We'll introduce the plan
to create the zero gravity environment in the jet aircraft: first, a steep ascent at 800km/h, then, without
a break, a nose-dive. This leads to a 20 second interval of outer space-like zero gravity. It's similar to
the floating feeling when you go up high on a swing.]
Jun: This is where we're doing the experiment ne. (writing)
Aiba: That's right ne, because this atmosphere will turn into a zero gravity atmosphere. (writing)
[Announcer: Before beginning the experiment we'll have first-timre MatsuJun fully savour the world of zero
gravity.]
Jun: What'll happen, what'll happen?
Aiba: From here you'll feel like 'whoa, so heavy, so heavy!', then the moment they say 'here we go~' it's
like...buwa~ floating.
Jun: I can't imagine it at all.
[Announcer: Paying little attention to the nervous MatsuJun the jet aircraft arrives at the experiment airspace
of 6000m.]
Staff: 30 seconds.
Jun: Alright, here it comes. Uwa!
Aiba: The G (force) is here! (writing)
[Announcer: Now the jet aircraft makes a steep ascent at 800km/h! So, here we go!]
Aiba: So heavy! So heavy! (writing)
[Announcer: In relation to the speed the pair's weight will become nearly doubled.]
Sho: Amazing.
Jun: Ah, here it is!
Mai: That's amazing!
Aiba: I'm coming, I'm coming, ah!
Sho: This is amazing;P
Jun: Stop me! Someone stop me! Someone stop me! (writing)
Aiba: MatsuJun hit me! (writing)
[Announcer: And here the zero gravity ends.]
Jun: Ah~, this is super fun. This is amazing!
[writing: Enraptured<3]
Aiba: it's the best isn't it!
[Announcer: Well then, before going to the main project, let's try doing these slightly intriguing things in
zero gravity. First is...]
Aiba: What will happen if you put dry ice in water in zero gravity? (writing) I'm putting in dry ice ne.
Jun: Yes.
Aiba: When you do that...these kind of bubbles come out ne.
Jun: Yes.
Aiba: And white smoke comes out.
Jun: Yes.
[Announcer In the end, what will happen with this in zero gravity?]
Jun: To begin with, what will happen to this water ne? (writing)
Aiba: It's possible that the water might float upwards ne. (writing)
Jun: So then, when the water floats up in mid air, if you were to put this in there, smoke would come out
of there right?
Aiba: Smoke would come out wouln't it. So then we don't know where the smoke would go, whether the bubbles
would float upwards.
Jun: I'm looking forward to that ne.
[Announcer: To keep themselves from floating the two of them affic themselves with seatbelts and the experiment
finally begins. In the end...]
Aiba: my hand is heavy, My hand is heavy! I didn't think it would be this heavy-
Jun: Okay, here it is!
Aiba: I'm putting it in, I'm putting it in.
Jun: Okay!
[Announcer: Once in zero gravity the water is suddenly released.]
Sawamura: Eh, what's happening, what's happening?
[Announcer: And a big incident...]
Aiba: The camera! The camera! (writing)
[Announcer: Ah, the camera gets covered in water. Well then, what happened to the dry ice? Watch carefully.]
Jun: I can't hold it down, I can't hold it down! The water is...uwa, ah! The camera~!
Sawamura: Something's coming out.
Mai: Something's coming out ne.
Mami: The liquid's coming out.
Sawamura: Ah, it came out, it came out!
Mami: Just as is-
Aiba: Alright. The water is- uwa!
Jun: Why didn't it get this easy to understand ne?
Aiba: Even though the smoke was coming out now and then ne.
[Announcer: When you put dry ice in water in zero gravity conditions rather than small bubbles, large bubbles
appear. This is because in zero gravity the bubbles aren't affected by weight and float to the water's surface
without restraint and become one single unit. Midway through two large bubbles floated out, but this was their
upper limit; once gravity returns the bubbles go back to their normal size and the water bubbles again.]
Aiba: The experiment's result!
Jun: Yes!
Aiba: Dry ice doesn't bubble in zero gravity.
Jun: It doesn't.
[Announcer: There's more to come. Next, what will happen if you eat ramen in zero gravity?]
Jun: This is it, the ramen.
Aiba: Yes. This is normal.
Jun: Yes, thanks for the food.
Aiba: Yes. How is it?
Jun: Mm, it's the best!
Aiba: It's the best isn't it. I think that it'll probably burst out like this, because it's watery.
Jun: Like the dry ice.
Aiba: That's right, that's right. Then after that it'll be a question of how to properly eat the broth and
noodles ne. (writing)
Jun: I see.
[Announcer: They affix themselves and the experiment finally begins.]
Jun: Okay, I'm keeping it, I'm keeping it, I'm keeping it~!
Aiba: Keep it, keep it! Keep it!
[Announcer: A surprising change happens to the ramen!]
Jun: Thanks for the food!
[Announcer: So, what will happen if you eat ramen in zero gravity?]
Jun: This is it, the ramen.
Aiba: Yes. This is normal.
Jun: Yes, thanks for the food.
[Announcer: They affix themselves and the experiment finally begins.]
Jun: Okay, I'm keeping it, I'm keeping it, I'm keeping it~!
Aiba: Keep it, keep it! Keep it! Eat it!
Jun: Thanks for the food!
Aiba: Yes. Go ahead.
[Announcer: Huh? That's weird. Where did the soup go?]
Jun: Tasty!
Sho: Eh?
Ijuu: That's bizarre...there's no soup. Where's the soup?
Mami: Where'd the soup go?
Ijuu: Where's the soup?
Mami: There's no soup.
Aiba: Amazing!
Jun: The incredibly strange thing about eating the ramen is, eating the noodles- when you eat the noodles
the solidified soup comes in at the same time! (writing)
Aiba: Like half and half?
Jun: That's right, that's right. That's the situation it comes in under. But it's extremely hard to eat. (writing)
[Announcer: That's right. In zero gravity an unexpected phenomenon occurs to the ramen.]
Sawamura: What?
Ijuu: This is interesting ne~.
Sho: That's right ne.
[Announcer: Somehow the instant it enters zero gravity the ordinary soup disappears somewhere. And as you can
see, as soon as the zero gravity ends the soup comes gushing out again. Exactly what is this?]
Sawamura: Interesting.
[Announcer: In actuality, in zero gravity the surface tension of liquids gets stronger, having the effect of
making it easier for them to cling to other objects. In the case of the ramen the soup clings to each and
every noodle. Furthermore, since the noodles are long and thin the surface area of the noodles that the
soup can cling to is increased, so it became a situation where it was like the noodles had sucked up all
the soup. Which means that, in zero gravity ramen broth disappears. So, next, what will happen if you open
a confetti ball in zero gravity?]
Jun: In zero gravity, when you pull it open, it won't come out will it?
Aiba: It'll stay in an embarrassing shape like the way it was inside the ball won't it?
Jun: Like this ne.
Aiba: That's right, that's right.
[Announcer: Normally this is how it would be if you happily opened a confetti ball...but what will happen
in zero gravity?]
Jun/Aiba: Uwa. Uwa~. Ah, there it is.
Aiba: There it is. Do it.
Jun: Ah, I'm floating!
Mami: Do your best~.
Aiba: Hold onto the rail, hold onto the rail.
Jun: Here I go! Here I go! Yes-
Aiba: Huh?
Mami: It won't open.
Jun: It's opening. You can open.
Sho: It's not opening.
Jun: Open!
Ijuu: It's not opening.
Jun/Aiba: Open! OPen!
Jun: Open~!
Aiba: It doesn't open at all ne.
Jun: It doesn't open ne.
Aiba: The experiment's result, it doesn't open.
[Announcer: As you can see, the confetti ball is made use of by suspending it from strings, and the cord
keeps it locked in place. When you pull out the fastener it naturally flips open under it's own weight but...]
Ijuu: Ah, it doesn't have that weight.
[Announcer: In zero gravity since the weight of the confetti ball itself is gone even if you pull out the
fastener it doesn't open. It just drifts open and shut a little. Even if you have a confetti ball in zero
gravity there's no point. So, finally on to the main project.]
Aiba: What will happen if you run an electric fan in zero gravity~? (writing)
Jun: Here it is, the main project.
Aiba: It's come to the main project. This is the electric fan we will be using this time.
Jun: Yes.
Aiba: What will happen if we let go of this?
[Announcer: According to Kojima-sensei, who proposed the experiment, there are 4 possible outcomes to this
experiment: will the fan slowly float backwards as if the blades were a propeller; or, will it spin in place
under the force of its own output; or even will the body begin to spin in the opposite direction of the
fan blades. This is what Kojima-sensei predicted would happen. Or could it be something else? Physics professor
Sugamoto predicted that it will spin around while flying backwards. So, finally the great experiment of the
century!]
Nino: What'll happen to it?
Aiba: This is heavy~.
[Announcer: The experiment begins.]
Ogura: There it is.
[Announcer: What will happen to the electric fan? (writing) An experiment proposed by wind power professor
Kojima: exactly what will happen if you run an electric fan in zero gravity? So, finally the great experiment of the
century!]
Nino: What'll happen to it?
Aiba: This is heavy~.
[Announcer: The experiment begins.]
Ogura: There it is.
Mami: Uwa~, it's floating.
Ijuu: It's floating, it's floating normally.
Aiba: It's turning sideways? It's turning sideways? Turning sideways?
Sawamura: It's going funyafunya isn't it?
Aiba: Backwards... Oh, oh, eh? Turning sideways? Which way is this thing turning?
Jun: It moved around in this kind of circular shape like a boomerang ne. (writing)
[Announcer: it certainly did look like it was moving aroun like a boomerang but...it's kind of a confusing
outcome isn't it. What is this? We had the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency's Adachi-san, who is knowledgeable
about zero gravity, look at the VTR and comment on it.]
Adachi: Depending on the spinning of the blades the wind will be pushed out. When it does that force occurs
in the opposite direction ne. Furthermore, in relation to the spinning of the blades force occurs that twists
the body of the electric fan in reverse direction. Combining these two forces the electric fan will reverse
while spinning. (writing).
[Announcer: In this worl without gravity the electric fan proceeds backwards as if it were a propeller;
furthermore, in relation to the reverse force of the spinning blades the body of the fan will spin in the opposite
direction; combining the two forces the fan will cause a twisting phenomenon while floating in the opposite
direction. It showed a movement like a boomerang in other words.]
Mai: Interesting~!
Sho:So Matsumoto-kun, Aiba-kun, which of the predictions does that make it? (writing)
Aiba: It means that it moves in a way that combines all of them ne. (writing)
Jun: Meaning all of them?;P
Nino: No no, that means it's number 4 ne? (writing)
Aiba: That means it's 4.
Ogura: Kojima-sensei, you were a little off ne. (writing)
Kojima: There are things that I overlooked. (writing)
Ogura: Overlooked?
Kojima: You're going like this with the electric cord that supplies the electric fan ne? It works as long
as it has the strength of that cord. (writing)
Aiba: We were always skillfully loosening it. (writing)
Kojima: It would be better to run the electric fan with a battery or another enegry source... (writing)
Nino: Professor, can we get you to tell us that earlier? (writing)
Sho: So, the next experiment that a scholar has wanted to try is this here, go ahead! If you stick together
cut halves of a melon and watermelon and leave it, how will it grow? (writing)
Aiba: I see~.
Ogura: Do you understand what this means? Mai-chan, do you understand this?
Mai: Yes, I understand one way or another. If you stick together a watermlon cut in half and a melon cut
in half and leave it alone, how will it grow?
Sho: No, that's exactly how it is. (writing)
Nino: That's written over there.
[Announcer: The one who proposed this experiment is Tokyo Agricultural College's botany specialist Professor
Hirata Yutaka. According to the professor you cut both a melon and a watermelon in half before they grow,
perfectly stick the cross-sections together. Then with them stuck together grow them to what kind of thing?]
Hirata: It's called a wamelon. (writing) A wamelon.
Sawamura: A wamelon?
[Announcer: He says that it will lead to the creation of an interesting fruit called the wamelon but...]
Ogura: How do you properly raise something that has been stuck together from two different varieties mid-
growth?
Hirata: Since it's incredibly difficult to stick them together there's a stapler ne. (writing)
Jun: Is it okay to do it that easily? (writing)
Hirata: Yeah, just punch punch punch in about 4 spots. (writing) If you do that properly theoretically it
will grow. (wriitng)
Ogura: 'Theoretically' it will grow?
Hirata: Yes.
Aiba: So does that mean that the nourishment of the watermelon will pass into the melon? (writing)
Hirata: Passing through the watermelon ne. (writing) That's why-
Aiba: Passing through?
Hirata: -the melon will also have a little bit of the watermelon's scent ne. (writing) Because it's a little
complicated you see.
Kitano: I'm sorry, I'm not in that field but since this is involved at the cellular level, well, I don't mean
to be rude but, wouldn't it be impossible ne. (writing)
Mai: I think it will turn out to be a watermelon where the seeds have gathered in the middle ne. (writing)
Aiba: Right in the middle?
Ogura: Ah I see, because the melon has all the seeds right in the middle?
Mai: That's right.
Sho: Meaning that the characteristics of each will mash together ne?
Mai: That's right. I think it'll be able to accomplish an incredibly good photosynthesis ne. (writing)
Nino: That's not photosynthesis!
Mami: Since they're both in the melon family I get the feeling they'll grow all mixed up. (writing)
Ogura: All mixed up?
Mami: That's right, and I *definitely* want to eat the grown one. (writing)
Sho: You want to eat it. No kidding;P
Ogura: Ikeda-sensei, biology is your specialty...
Ikeda: I think that they will stick together. (writing) Plants are half-hearted, half-hearted. Since animals
have strict immunity if they were to be stuck together it wouldn't stick. But because plants are
something that pretty much doesn't have immunity I think they'd stick together ne. (writing)
Mizui: If we were speaking of the world of electricity there's such a thing as isolating conditions ne, so
since the electricity wouldn't transfer I think that this part would just drop off ne. (writing)
Sho: I see.
[Announcer: The ones who also think that it won't stick are physics professor Sugamoto, wind power professor
Kojima, 5 in all. Meanwhile, those who predict that it will stick are botanist Hirata-sensei and biologist
Ikeda-sensei, 6 in all. The opinions of the scholars are split down the middle. In the end will the melon
and watermelon stick together to create the dreamt-of wamelon? Furthermore, we also did some experiments
about leaving vegetables in shaping molds to see what will happen. The ones who tried out this experiment
are Ninomiya and Ohno, the 'leave it' brothers. And the observers are Rinka-san and Takabe Ai-chan.]
Nino: What do the two of you think will happen? (writing)
Rinka: I think they'll stick. (writing)
Ai: I'm thinking that the seeds from this one and the seeds from that one will kind of mix together and kind
of might create something completely different. (writing)
[writing: Fairy-tale check]
Rinka: Something different?
Ohno: That's awesome huh.
Nino: Awesome huh.
[Announcer: Since we went to all this trouble it's not just the melon and watermelon, we're also trying other
stick-together experiments. Thking together of various types of mixes...]
Nino: Things where the cross-sections are similar would be good ne. (writing)
[writing: cucmber and bitter melon]
Ohno: Well, usually these would work right?
Ai: This and this.
[writing: Broccoli and daikon]
Nino: What would you do if it turned out like this.
[Announcer: The result is that they'll stick together the cucumber and bitter melon that have similar shapes, the broccoli and daikon
that would be interesting if they stuck together, and the eggplant and tomato. Without delay they head to the
farm that is helping out this time. The way to do the stick-together experiments is to choose a pre-growth
melon and watermelon of about the same size, cut them both in half, perfectly match the cross-sections, and
stick them together with staples.]
Aiba: It kind of seems like it will work huh.
[Announcer: After that they wrap tape around it, simply so that it won't rot. This is really how they're stuck
together.]
Nino: Finished. Now we leave it. (writing) Now it's about what will happen.
[Announcer: In this way they make one each of the perfectly matched melons and watermelons. Next there's nothing but
\to head for the eggplant field, here they cut an as yet green tomato in half, and stick it to the butt of
an identically bisected eggplant. In addition, a reverse version, they're also trying an experiment with
an eggplant stuck to the butt of a tomato. And broccoli on the head of a daikon. They also stick together
a cucumber and a bitter melon. Now the preparations are complete. In the end will they stick together well
and create interesting new fruits and vegetables? And here are the customary 'leave it' experiments.]
Nino: What'll happen if you stick various things in various-shaped molds and leave 'em?
[Announcer: This time they stuffed a pre-growth watermelon and squash inside special star-shaped molds and
left them. In the end will they be able to properly create a star-shaped watermelon and squash?]
Nino: Well, all that's left is to leave them be. (writing)
Ai: Yes.
Rinka: Leave 'em, leave 'em~! (writing)
[Announcer: They leave 'em, leave 'em for 30 days. And...]
Ohno: It was a long time ne... (writing)
Nino: It was a long time ne, really ne.
Rinka: It was long~.
Nino: Well, let's go see them without delay. (writing)
[Announcer: Before the main project we're going to see what happened to the vegetables in the molds. First
is the squash. If you leave a squash inside a star-shaped mold will it become this pretty of a star shape?]
Nino: When you leave a squash in a star-shaped mold...this is how it grows!
[Announcer: So, in the end...?]
Ai: A star~. It's become one.
Ohno: This ne...
Rinka: Ah~! Ah~! (writing)
[writing: Star-shaped?]
Nino: This ne...
Ai: What is this?
Ohno: This's great! (writing)
[writing: Tension up!]
Nino: This is...oh!
Rinka: This is good.
Sho: Amazing.
Rinka: It's incredibly cute~!
[writing: Well~ cute<3]
Nino: There! And then...
Mai: Amazing!
Nino: -the squash-
Ogura: it's pretty ne;P
Mai: That's nice ne~.
Sawamura: Amazing ne.
Rinka: Amazing~!
Mami: Amazing, amazing.
Rinka: Ne, four stars. (writing)
Nino: Don't pull us down with you. (writing)
[Announcer: Well, the squash magnificently became a pretty star shape. Thank you Mr. Squash. With this elan,
the next is the watermelon.]
Sho: They grew this one too...
[Announcer: In the end will they have made this kind of pretty star-shaped watermelon?]
Nino: here we go! When you leave it in a star-shaped mold this is what happens!
[Announcer: So, in the end...?]
Nino: Tada!
[writing: Uncertain?]
Mai: Why?
Ai: Huh? Eh?
Rinka: Huh?
Nino: Look. Look!
Sho: Ah, it's getting that way.
Sawamura: A weird shape.
Mami: A weird shape ne, but it's kind of getting that way.
Sawamura: It's a partial shape. This is partial~.
Nino: Amazing ne. This-
Ohno: This is a star!
Nino: It's a success~!
Mai: Cute.
Ohno: Shall we try eating it? (writing)
Nino: I think that if you ate it- oh, you're amazing!
Ohno: This si super tasty, so it's a success. (writing)
Nino: It's a success.
[Announcer: Next they also check the baby watermelon. In the end will the outcome change?]
Rinka: Because it was a success with the big star, shouldn't it be okay? (wriitng)
Nino: That's right ne. It might even be more angular ne. (writing) These parts of the star.
Rinka: Right there ne.
Nino: This is what happens to the star-shape!
Aiba: Ah, amazing.
Nino: It's a star-shape isn't it!
[writing: Tension up!]
Ai: So cute!
Nino: Uwa, amazing~! Look everyone.
Mami: Amazing~.
Mai: So cute~.
Nino: Uwa, this is amazing.
Ohno: Ah, amazing huh.
Nino: Amazing ne~! Look.
Rinka: Ah~! (wriitng)
[writing: It couldn't be...]
Nino: Oh no;P
Rinka: 5 stars! (writing)
Nino: Like I said, pull yourself down! (writing)
[Announcer: The baby watermelon has maximum cuteness. It's become a magnificent star. Well, finally the main
'stick together' experiment. What happens to the watermleon and melon in the end? Did they stick together
and grow bigger? The predictions of the schoalrs are split right down the middle, those who predict that it will stick are botanist Hirata-sensei and biologist
Ikeda-sensei, 6 in all; those who think that it won't stick are 5 people including Kitano-sensei. There's the
opinion that the nourishment from the watermelon won't pass into the melon, but...in the end will this
dream-like interesting fruit be born? But before that let's check into the outcomes of the other stuck
together vegetable experiments. First is the tomato and eggplant. Please, stick together!]
Nino: What will happen if you stick a tomato and an eggplant together? (writing)
Rinka: The eggplant will grow super~ big, and the tomato will just be really tiny. (writing)
[Announce: In the end...?]
Nino: If you stick them together and grow them this is what happens!
Ohno: Eh? What is this?
Ai: Amazing.
Aiba: What does that mean?
Nino: Ah, amazing!
[Announcer: Are they properly sticking together? They take the staples out to check. At which point...]
Ohno: They are ne~.
Rinka: Amazing!
Ai: Amazing.
Sho: Oh, they're sticking together!
[writing: Sticking together!]
Mai: Amazing~!
[Announcer: Furthermore, when they try cutting it to look at a cross-section...]
Ogura: it really is sticking together ne.
Jun: Ah, this is amazing huh~.
Rinka: Amazing.
[Announcer: it didn't grow at all, but the two of them are firmly stuck together. Next, the reverse form.
An eggplant stuck to the butt of a tomato, the tomato and eggplant grew magnificently, or tomegg-san for short. It
looks like it's cleanly stuck together, but let's take a look at the intriguing cross-section.]
Ai: This is a fabulous tomato.
Rinka: Look, juice is coming out! Just a little dribble.
Nino: She's right.
Ijuu: Ah, the eggplant is firmly stuck on.
Ogura: It is firmly stuck on.
Jun: Amazing huh~.
Ohno: This...is pretty ne.
Mami: It's firmly stuck together.
Ohno: The tomato grew pretty well didn't it. Since there's a vine connected to it. It's mysterious that
this one (the eggplant) grew. (writing)
[Announcer: The tomato and the eggplant have cleanly become one unit. Furthermore, there's a surprising
discovery in its flavor! When Arashi's taster, Ohno, tries eating a little of the tomato part...]
Mai: Huh?
Ijuu: What is it? Discord?
Ohno: It's ultra tasty! It kind of ne, feels like the essence of the eggplant is in it. (writing)
Nino: Seriously?
Aia: There's twice as much flavor as a normal tomato. (writing)
Ohno: That's right! That's the feeling. (writing)
[Announcer: Isn't it just your imagination? Now to eat a regular tomato and compare them... After eating the
normal tomato they eat the stuck together tomato and...]
Rinka: uwa~! Wait-!
Ai: It's completely different! (writing) This is delicious.
Rinka: This here ne.
Ohno: Uwoah~, it's completely diff'rent! (writing)
Rinka: It's true!
Ohno: This is amazing ne?
Rinka: This is- but I mean, the sizes are completely different.
Nino: It's extremely thick huh!
Ohno: It's kind of fascinating ne. (writing)
[Announcer: So the outcome is that the flavor of the eggplant/tomato is thick. But why exactly? The reason will
come later. So, next are the cucumber and bitter melon. I wonder if they stuck together in the end?]
Nino: We're going to look, tada!
Ohno: Aren't they kind of b-b-beautiful? (writing)
Nino: This one's no good ne. (writing)
Ai: Ah, it came apart.
[Announcer: When they take out the staples and check all the other cucumber/bitter melons...]
Rinka: What what?
Ai: Go, go!
[writing: Sticking together!]
Nino: That one's sticking together.
Rinka: It's sticking together isn't it!
[Announcer: here's the cross-section. Although they were evenly matched the cucumber encroached on the bitter
melon and fully grew out. And they also eat and comapre it to a normal cucumber.]
Nino: Eating a normal cucumber and...
[writing: Eating the stuck together cucumber]
Nino: ...a bitter melon-cucumber...
Rinka: What~?
[writing: What happened?]
Ohno: Ah, I'm getting goosebumps! (writing)
Ijuu: What, what?
Rinka: Eh, what? What is it?
Sho: What is this?
Ohno: It's sweet. (writing)
[writing: The sweetness increased?]
Sho: That's bitter.
Ohno: Like I said, it's fascinating, really! (writing) It's sweet.
[writing: eating the normal cucumber.]
Mai: Eh, the bitter melon...
Ohno: Taste it carefully ne.
[writing: Eating the bitter melon-cucumber]
Mai: What, what?
Nino: Sweet. (writing)
[Announcer: Really? Just to be sure they have one of the farmers taste it, and...]
Farmer: This one's sweeter. (writing)
[writing: Verified, the sweetness increased]
Rinka: Is that so? (writing)
Ijuu: What could it be...?
Farmer: It's sweet.
Rinka: That's how it turned out? (writing)
Farmer: It's delicious. (writing)
[Announcer: The outcome is that the bitter melon and cucumber stick together, and the cucumber's sweetness
increases. Next is broccoli on the head of a daikon. Because if they could make this kind of vegetable it
would be extremely interesting huh. In the end, will they stick together?]
Nino: This is what happens.
[Announcer: It's too early to be so excited. When they take out the staples to see if they're really sticking
together...]
Sho: This is kind of amazing huh.
Mai: If it turned out like in the picture...
[Announcer: Too bad. Not one of the broccoli-daikon stuck together, it's a failure. But why is it that they
grew even though they weren't stuck together? The reason for this as well will be revealed in the studio a
little later. The score so far is 2 wins and one loss. So, finally the main melon and watermelon sticking
together experiment. In the end will the interesting fruit, the wamelon, proposed by the one who suggested
this experiment, Hirata-sensei, be created?]
Nino: Well then let's move along, this is the main event. If you stick together a watermelon and a melon
and grow them, this is what happens! (writing) Go ahead!
Ai: Eh? Where?
Nino: Everyone look for it. (writing) Look for it, look for it. Look look look for it!
[Announcer: The studio goes wild at the surprising outcome. Furthermore, can you reach Tokyo Bay in a leaf
boat? MatsuJun's determined challenge. What's the depth limit for the ninja water trick? How would you be
reflected if you got inside a circular mirror? What is that mysterious mirror world like?]
Mai: Uwa, amazing~!
[Announcer: Finally, the main project. If you stick together halves of a watermelon and melon and leave them
will the interesting fruit, the wamelon, proposed by botanist Hirata-sensei be created?]
Nino: If you stick together a watermelon and a melon and grow them, this is what happens! (writing) Go ahead!
Ai: Eh? Where?
Nino: Everyone look for it. (writing)
Ohno: Look for it?
Nino: Look for it, look for it. Look look look for it!
Ai: Ah! Huh?
Rinka: Ne! Ne! Can I cry now? (writing) Can I cry?
Ogura: Eh? It withered? It withered? What?
Rinka: Eh, this is a lie right? (writing)
[Announcer: Unbelievably, it tragically withered. However, there were four in total that they stuck together,
they place their hopes in the remaining 3.]
Nino: These are numbers 2 and 3 ne. (wriitng) If you stick together a watermelon and a melon and grow them,
this is what happens! (writing) Go ahead!
Ai: Huh? Huh?
Nino: Ah~, the watermelon is growing, but...the melon didn't grow at all ne. (writing)
Ai: This is awful.
[Announcer: And although it seemed that both of them were growing in number 3, the stuck-together sides separated
and rotted. There's only one left. Watermelon-san, melon-san, please, do your best! In the end...]
Nino: This is...kind of...
Ai: Amazing. It's not rotted. (writing)
[writing: Huh? Small]
Ai: Tiny~.
Nino: Well then...
Ohno: It didn;t grow.
[Announcer: At any rate they take the staples out to check.]
Nino: tada!
[writing: Sticking together!]
Rinka: So tiny~.
Nino: It is sticking together.
[Announcer: In the end, the way they were stuck together may have been at fault, but the melon and watermelon
didn't grow. After this, the staff re-did the experiment. They'll announce the surprising outcome in the
studio!]
Sho: That's right, since then we tried the watermelon and melon 'stick together' experiment one more time.
I'd like to announce that result here today! Here's the stuck together melon and watermelon, come on
out~! Well then, this is the next stuck together melon and watermelon, open!
[Announcer: So, in the end...]
Ijuu: Woah, pretty! They're sticking together? (writing)
Mami: They're sticking together?
Ijuu: They're sticking together?
Jun: Is it okay to hold one?
Ijuu: There's more staples aren't there.
Ohno: Oh, they've gotten bigger!
Ijuu: They're sticking together!
Sho: They're sticking together.
Sawamura: Amazing.
Jun: Amazing.
Ogura: They stuck together!
Mai: Amazing.
Jun: They're sticking together!
Sho: Hirata-sensei!
Hirata: Ah, it's magnificent ne. The staff are really skilled. (writing)
Sho: That's how it is...;P
Jun: Though they're sticking together the edges aren't sticking together ne. (writing)
Ogura: The rind isn't sticking together. I want to try cutting this open.
Jun: I want to try cutting it open ne.
Aiba: I wan tto see inside. (writing) I wonder if it will be red.
Nino: Let's cut it and see.
Sho: How is it, seeing your dreamt-of watermelon-melon in front of your very eyes?
Hirata: This is extraordinarily fanatastic ne.
Ogura: It's fantastic?
Hirata: It's fantastic, unbelievably so.
Nino: Here we go. Here!
Sho: Amazing~!
Nino: Everyone take a look.
Hirata: The smell transfers a bit ne. (writing)
Nino: That's not it! Is there anyone who wants to eat it?
Ogura: Apparently Mami-chan wants to eat it. (writing)
Jun: You said so.
Aiba: Earlier you said so.
Jun: Earlier you said you wanted to eat it.
Mami: I want to eat it~. (writing) This, both...is it okay to go from this side?
Ogura: Go ahead, whichever end you want. Melon?
[writing: What happened?]
Ogura: it's not ripe yet...
Mami: Huh? What is this?! (writing)
Jun: What?
Mami: It's a sweet cucumber with an incredible amount of salt on it. (writing)
Nino: So it's sweet after all? (writing)
Mami: It's not sweet at all, as a melon. But there's an unbelievably salty effect. (writing)
Mai: Eh, where is that-??
Jun: Salt?
Ohno: Uh-huh!
Mami: ne?!
Ogura: What about the watermelon? 9writing)
sawamura: Why?
mami: The watermelon is bad ne. The red part is gone and the skin is completely encroached on it.
Sho: Takano-sensei, why exactly did this flavor come about?
Takano: Well, the whole thing is small ne. Becauase it becomes sweet when it's fully ripened, before that
it's composed of starch ne. Therefore it's not sweet. it also has some salt content and because
there's nothing to counteract that it will feel a little salty.
Sho: The broccoli and daikon grew even though they weren't stuck together ne. What was that all about?
Hirata: Although they weren't stuck together the cells were properly connected and alive, so I think that's
why it had that effect. And the staff's skills were great, fairly-
Sho: Yes, yes the staff!
[Announcer: Well then, why is it that the stuck together tomato and cucumber got sweeter? At their foundation
both fruits and vegetables get sweeter when they're stressed. This time the same kind of phenomenon occurred.
Also, while it's just a little bit, there's no doubt that each of their elements transferred into the
other.]
Sho: The next experiment that a scholar wanted to try is this one! Can you go down-river and reach Tokyo Bay
in a leaf boat? This i also an experiment thought up by a university professor. (writing)
Ijuu: Is this for real?
Ogura: it's real.
Ijuu: Surely this is an elementary school kid's composition? (writing)
Sho: The one who thought up this experiment is...
Nino: Kitano-san...
Sho: Kitano-sensei.
Ijuu: I guess I shouldn't be surprised...
[Announcer: The one who proposed this experiment is Meiji University's Kitano Masaharu-sensei. Kitano-sensei
said that he thought up this because after Arashi's 2 previous boat-related failures he wanted to make them
a success. The first failure was 'can you cross the ocean in a paper boat?'. Arashi made this fabulous ship
out of carboard boxes, but...amidst the waves holes began to open. And within roughly 4 hours they unfortunately
sank. Failure number 2 is Kitano-sensei's idea, 'can you reach Tokyo Bay riding on an ice floe?'. They rode
the injured ice floe from Hokkaidou's Raosu in low water temperatures and were aiming for Tokyo Bay, but the
winter weather was harsh and after about 500m the ice floe split in two and they soon sank. This is the
experiment that Kitano-sensei thought up this time to overcome that failure! 'Can you go down-river and
reach Tokyo Bay in a boat made only out of leaves?' According to Kitano-sensei he wants this to be an experiment
with a splendid leaf boat that seats four with the lowest speed as 30km/h, but...]
Kitano: When you were young have you ever made a boat out of bamboo leaves?
Sawamura: I have.
Kitano: Because they have good water resistance ne, asnd they're light. (writing) You could skillfully attach
theese with glue and make a boat. And if you could make a boat that people could ride in ne, that
would be the return of Japan as a shipbuilding kingdom. (writing)
Ijuu: While the way he speaks is incredibly mature, it's the idea of an elementary school kid after all ne.
(writing)
Ogura: Hirata-sensei, are bamboo leaves something fairly durable?
Hirata: I think they're durable. (writing) Plant so the rice family have an incredible amount of fibre and are
light. So I think it can be done ne. (writing)
Ogura: Shouno-sensei, do you think it's possible to make a boat out of bamboo leaves that people can ride
in? (writing)
Shouno: With tankers and such ne, they make it out of an assemblage of steel girders, so I think that
it might make it somehow. (writing)
Sho: Look, Shouno-sensei likes it too.
Aiba: It would be possible to make it right? If you did your best. (writing)
Ijuu: Calm down, this is bamboo. Bamboo leaves are the ones that they wrap around bamboo dumplings. (writing)
Aiba: That's right ne.
Ijuu: Even the bean paste of the bamboo dumplings comes spilling out. (writing) They can't be that strong.
Sho: Can you go down-river and reach Tokyo Bay in a leaf boat~?
[Announcer: Or so they say, but exactly how can they make a big boat that people can ride in from those small
leaves? For the time being they try sticking several leaves together with glue to make a big leaf. But naturally
like this it sinks.]
Aiba: Huh~?
[Announcer: If they don't come up with some kind of plan it seems like it will absolutely sink. At which
point Sakurai says...]
Sho: How about...
Nino: How about?
Sho: A raft! (writing)
Nino: A raft? A raft??
Ohno: A raft?
Sho: Gradually curl up all the leaves and make a large cylindrical object. (writing) If you did that it would
have some thickness and I think it would have the strength for people to ride in it. (writing)
Nino: Like building a nest.
Ohno: Definitely.
Sho: You're staring already! (writing) You're quick ne.
[Announcer: Without delay they begin making Sakurai's suggested raft. They bundle the rolled-up leaves, then
they wrap a glue-covered leavf around the top to make an even bigger bundle. The plan is to combine these
into a thicker log shape.]
Nino: There's no end to wrapping the leaves ne. (wriitng)
Ohno: No end.
[Announcer: They do this dull work for an hour, at which point they've made about 300 of these small rounded
logs. When they try floating it...]
Nino: How is it?
Sho: It kind of feels different. It's strong. (writing)
Ohno: Uwa, that's kind of a relief. (writing)
Sho: it could work right?
Mami: I think it could work.
[Announcer: It appears that it has some unexpected floatability. In the end, can they make a boat only out
of leaves that they can ride to Tokyo bay? Arashi works for an entire day. Since they have other work to do
in the coming days they leave the rest to the staff. And a week later, after hearing that it's been completed,
Sakurai goes to drop in on the staff.]
Sho: Eh?! (writing) Isn't that tiny?! (writing)
[Announcer: This is the completed leaf raft. The length is just a little over 120cm, but it took a full week
to make it. But, if this manages to float then it will only be a matter of making it bigger. In the end...]
Sho: Float float float!
[writing: It floated!]
Sho: Oh! Amazing! Well, I want to try riding on it. (writing)
[writing: Sunk]
Sho: There's no floatability at all! (writing)
[Announcer: When they put just a little bit of weight on it it quickly sinks. How big of a raft would they
have to build to hold all their weight? One way or another, is this plan a failure? Which means that the
only thing to do is ask a specalist. They go to Kawamura-sensei, who helped them last time with the paper
boat. When they explain the circumstances thus far...]
Kawamura: I think that, rather than a raft you need a box-shaped structure. (writing)
Sho: Box-shaped?
[writing: Box-shaped?]
Kawamura: Only, though I say box-shaped, the strength would be a problem. So wouln't it be good to use a
sandwich structure? (writing)
Sho: A sandwich structure? (writing)
[Announcer: No matter how well-made the raft is he says they'd have to make one 30 times the size to support
them against waves since it has no sides. How many months would that take to build? But with a box-shape
the part that sinks down would create floatation, so even though it's smaller than the raft it would float
well. Furthermore, in a sandwich structure where something is placed in between two other sheets it would
create more buoyancy and make it stronger at the same time. Meaning it's the same structure as cardboard huh.
And based on this the professor made us a blueprint for the leaf boat. This is it. The length would be 3.5m,
width 1m, height 50cm. He says that if they can make a boat of this size 4 people will be able to properly
ride in it. Without delay they begin making the boat once more. They pack rolled up leaves on a sheet of leaves
spread with glue, and on top of that they pile on another leaf sheet, making a leaf sandwich.]
Sho: it's curious ne, that doing this will make it stronger huh. (writing)
[Announcer: And when asked exactly how they will make the box-shape...]
Sho: This would be the shape of a one person boat. (writing)
[Announcer: Placing the leaf sandwich over that single-person shape they mold it to fit. After piling on
dozens of other leaves and taking out the form it will be good. Then, by linking together the 4 single-person
leaf boats the 4-person boat will be completed. But first they take a miniature version of the leaf boat and
do an endurance test on the water. When they try placing a 2kg water bottle on it...]
[writing: It floated]
Sho: Oh!
[Announcer: Furthermore...]
Sho: 10kg! (writing) This is really amazing!
[Announcer: This could work! The staff help and the boat construction continues. And one week later...]
Sho: So, a week has passed since then. The boat has been completed~! Well, this splendid experiment is
finalyl getting underway. I'm calling out some strong helpers. (writing) It's Takeda Nobuhiro-san and Sakai
Toshiya-san~!
Nino: Hello.
Takeda: When it comes to strength work ne, I'd like you to leave it to the former pro athlete ne. Please
touch it. (writing)
Nino: Oh, still like that!
Sho: This is amazing! (writing)
Takeda: it's firm isn't it.
Nino: Huh? Why did they call you? (writing)
Sakai: It's halfway there... (writing)
Sho: Let's finally move along. The boat is standing by over there! That thing in the red tarp would be the
leaf boat. (wriitng)
Ohno: In that boat let's head down-river and make it to Tokyo Bay!
[Announcer: So, they finally go to meet the leaf boat that will be going with them on their goal to reach
Tokyo Bay.]
Sho: This here is the leaf boat! (writing) Go ahead!
Jun: Amazing!
Ohno: It's incredibly fantastic huh. (writing)
Sakai: This is amazing.
Nino: Amazing.
Jun: It's holding together well.
Nino: Oh, amazing!
Sho: Amazing.
Ohno: Isn't this perfect?
Sho: This is amazing.
Nino: Is it okay that it's kind of spring apart in some places? (writing)
[writing: Quickly uneasy...]
Takeda: It's fine, it won't sink under our weight when we're all in it. Isn't this heavy? (writing)
Sho: It can definitely work. (writing)
Nino: Hey Sho-chan.
[writing: rip...]
Sho: What are you doing??
[Announcer: This leaf boat is using an unbelievable 45 000 leaves. The length is 3.5m, width 1m, height 50cm,
just like the blueprint. You can look forward to this. But since this is built for 4 there's one person too
many. Since Ninomiya is already uneasy and get seasickness he'll just cheer them on at the beginning. This time
they're departing from Saitama-ken's Toda City, they'll travel here and there down river and aim for the 30km
distant Tokyo Bay.]

Oh, Jun was soo adorable floating around in zero g!!<3 When he and Aiba get together like that it's the happiest he ever seems;P His laugh goes up several tones and he just lets go of the control he holds himself under most of the time:3 But he hit poor Aiba in the faceXDD I hope he apologized...^^; Aiba was so kind to let him do so many of the experiments, Jun looked like a little boy, kicking his feet excitedly;P And now I really want to try a cucumber with a bitter melon and a tomeggXD Who would have thought it would acutally work?O_o But that leaf boat...I have to applaud them for their perseverance, but seriously, this can not end wellXDDD Looking forward to seeing the rest, especially the ninja trick and the giant stilts:D

And I translated Jun's Dec. Potato article, about the sky<3

The sky is mysterious ne, just looking at the sky can cause a change in how you feel ne. If I can see the
clear sky through my open window when I wake up in the morning I'm glad, it also makes me happy. Conversely,
if the sky continues to be cloudy it lowers my tension. You could call it the expression of the sky, my feelings
will rise or fall with it's color or the shape of the clouds (laughs). It's not to the point where I'd be
miserable if it was a heavy, dark sky, but I do get a little depressed...(laughs). Sometimes there's also
weather that looks rather ominous ne (laughs). From that alone, the prescence of the sky might be something
really big for me huh. Especially when I'm shut up inside the studio all day when doing dramas for work, even
just seeing the sky for an instant can bring about a change in my mood.
Because the city has a lot of high buildings the sky feels incredibly far away and high up. Conversely, in
places where there aren't any buildings or things higher up that block your line of sight the sky has the
sensation of appearing lower ne. At times when it looks like that and you use the expression 'the sky is
low', I like the low blue sky where you can see the clouds clearly. A sky with no buildings or obstacles
getting in the way is nice, after all. Although I'm talking kind of passionately about the sky (laughs),
as an example, the seaside. Actually I don't really like seeing the sky with the horizon, rather than that
I like the mixture of the sky from the middle of the mountains, that establishment.
For the most part I carry my digital camera with my everyday and take pictures of things that intrigue me
or interesting situations. Well, I'm not a pro so I only click the shutter when the mood hits me ne. So, when
I was riding in an airplane I could see amazing clouds so I took pictures of the clouds through my window.
Although when you see clouds floating in the sky they give off a pretty image, I've established that they're
not that pretty when you try taking pictures from close up (laughs). I had just been picturing the whole cloud
floating in the sky from how I saw it from underneath, but when I actually saw it from up close that is ultimately
a fragment, in the vicinity of the edges it was fairly crude (?!) so it was kind of a shock to me (laughs).
The Dome concert was safely finished as well. I'm glad that it had a good evaluation. And Arashi's summer is over,
one more delineation in an emotional sense... So, I keep on saying that I want to buy a computer and make
music, but since I heard that given a little more time a new model of the computer that I planned to buy would
come out I've decided to wait until that one goes on sale. I think I'll probably buy it mid-year. And my cluttered
room is in the same state, it still hasn't reached clean mode, but if I don't at least seriously tidy my room
by the last minute it will be really bad (laughs). Other than that...since I'm soon starting the preparations
for the next job although it seems like I have time I might have less than I think...

What a great topic...the sky is something that affects me so much. If you read back my old posts I often mention the sky, whether enjoying the blueness and sunshine, amused at the shape of the clouds, or flying through it...sometimes metaphorically too. In the hallway from the building I work in to my actual workplace there are windows that overlook a roof in a space surrounded by tall buildings, and just by peeking up out and to the blue sky I feel a little better:3 One of my co-workers once said my native name could be 'blue sky woman'^^ It's interesting that Jun's moods are also affected by cloudy days...I may get melancholy on cloudy days, but sometimes I actually prefer them. I find them soothing, as if I can hide from the world, and sometimes as if the world is letting out all its pain and sadness, allowing me to do the same. It's a little sad that he gets depressed from them, I hope it doesn't stay cloudy too much in Tokyo:3 But I find it funny that he was so shocked at seeing the clouds up closeXD They may seem kind of rough, not the pretty solid forms we like to idealize...but I like flying through clouds, I always get the urge to stick my hand out the window and feel them, though I can't;P I wonder how old he was the first time he saw the clouds from the sky...maybe when he went to Hawaii for the debut?^^ Maybe the age has something to do with it. And what a disappointment about the computer;P I was really hoping to hear more about this music he was going to make...well, have to wait and see I guess^^ But really, the toom is still dirty?XD He's like me, he put it off this long and now he's in the habit of putting it offXD We'll both have to get ourselves in gear^^;

On a coincidental aside, before I translated this interview today I went to the window to pet my cat on his scratching post and noticed that all the trees were covered in the most pretty hoarfrost:3 I instantly got the urge to go outside and take pictures, even though it was so cold my fingers went numb;P But then hearing about Jun taking his camera everywhere made me think of it again;) Anyway, I wanted to share the pics, hoarfrost is so rare and beautiful, it was gone by midday (which is why I went out immediately).

These are as close as I could get in focus, but if you look carefully the whiteness is actually tiny individual spikes of frost all lined up on the branches, like this:

*huggles* thanks for the translations hun! jun is so cute, being able to appreciate things like the sky so deeply. it's a little sad to say, but i'm from hawaii so until i went to boston, i never realized how much the weather can affect your mood. i still love the occasional thunder/rainstorm cause they're perfect for snuggling up with a book, but i realized it can be really rough to have a streak of rainy/cloudy days in a row >_<.

aww and thanks so much for posting the pictures of the frost!! *^_^* i must say that i fare better in warmer climates, but i do miss the wintry feeling you get from snow...somehow sand and coconut trees just aren't the same. ^_~

and i totally agree; nature can be so beautiful sometimes...i was actually just thinking the other day that it's a shame that i'm usually too preoccupied to notice. i've realized that rainbows never ever fail to make me smile, no matter how crappy my day has been or how gray the sky is...haha guess i was meant to be an arashi girl, huh? ^_~ anyway, i hope you're having a nice break and are enjoying the pretty winter weather! talk to you soon hun!

You're very welcome:D Wow, is it always sunny in Hawaii? That must be nice though, no freezing cold days, no ice in your socks;P I suppose if it was always cloudy I may start to miss the sun too...

No problem!^^ I suppose it can be hard to have a white xmas with sandXD

Yes, I lvoe rainbows too...I wish I could see them more than once a year>_< Hehe, it was destiny ne;) Thanks, I hope you're doing well too:3 Mata ne~

I live in Sydney Australia. And while its hot and sunny over Christmas because of the summer even in winter I have never seen snow or Hoarfrost.

It is so beautiful it makes me want to the take next winter and drive to the mountains to experience the beauty of winter for myself.

Thankyou so much for your translations
I will hope and pray that some time in the future techni teddy will put these to the raw and make me a very happy Lady.

again thank you for sharing *hugs*

I enjoyed your photos of the snow around your neck of the woods. It's really beautiful and I wish I could walk around the neighbourhood there, letting my shoes sink into the snow with every step. I wonder of the colour of the sunrise and sunset. I wonder how beautiful those trees would look in autumn (or as you might call it, fall). Beautiful :) (particularly 5 and 6)

Aw, thank you:3 You know, there's something about the softness of snow that makes winter very still and muted, very soothing...I think you'd enjoy it very much, at least until you lost feeling in your toes;) Sunrise is pink and orange, and sunset usually as well...if I happen to be up and active next time I'll get a shot for you^^

the sky~! hehe, out of my window i have a pretty pretty view every evening with the sun goes down in such different colours, you can't imagine (there was a green shape... but i guess my camera was at fault as well, XD - yes, i shoot them as well ^^°)
i actually liked the view from above the clouds, the sun was shining when i flew to london and the clouds were so bright, suugoi na~!
but i get depressed too, when it's cloudy... although i really like it, when it's raining and i'm sitting inside somewhere, drinking some tea and read a good book - that's perfect mood!
it's sad, as you said, that he didn't buy the computer yet... i guess i couldn't wait... *coughs* i bought my laptop immediately after i had the money with the result that he wasn't that good... but i love him nonetheless~!

thank you for the translations, and ganbatte! soon there is christmas and you can relax a bit (at least i hope)...

Not that I'm trying to find some similarities with Jun, but I love nature...and taking photos...so, taking photos of nature is my favourite hobby. Because nature...skies..can be soooo pretty. I love it even when it's stormy, even when there is lightning. Because nature can have different types of beauty in different conditions ne. =) I love those pictures you took. Ooo you've finally gotten around to seeing Odoroki 3 eh? Jun really was cute in zero grav.. heheh
His laugh goes up several tones and he just lets go of the control he holds himself under most of the time:3
Come to think of it, Sho does about the same around Aiba too. He seems to become just as baka as Aiba when he's doing weird A no Arashi stuff. XD I find it amusing how Aiba has this effect on Jun and Sho. Like he turns them into kids again, almost. ahahahaha

BTW, nice pictures of the frost! I never knew that type was called hoarfrost. I wish it snowed here... I've never had the chance to photograph any sort of snow before. *sigh*

That was a very interesting article, he can be so philosophical sometimes huh?I think people don't take enough time (myself included!) to really just observe the earth and nature, and when you finally do, it's surprising how relaxing it can be.

Those pictures you took are beautiful! As much as I hate snow having living in New England my whole life, I have to admit that it really does make for some pretty pictures. If snow was warm I would love it haha

I've been stressed out lately so I have been taking some time to relax and just watch Arashi! They always seem to calm me down and I just recently made a friend (who is Japanese) who loves Arashi so now I have someone to obsess with it over!

Thanks for all the translating like always! I'm still in the process of catching up with all the old translations of things ^_^ Take care!

OOOOOooh a secret admirer that gives books thats my kind of admirer LOL
The snow is so pretty and the crystals on the trees are so pretty. We got freezing rain a little while where I live and the trees were very pretty covered in ice :)
Oh the zero G experiments are always a treat! I think they should send all five of them in the jet and let them float and bump into each other XD I can already picture nino trying to float over to ohno :D Jun was adorable getting all excited about the ramen and it was too cute that aiba tried to eat out of it too ^_^
And teh leaf boat XDDD I was actually amazed that they could even make a boat out of leaves. It makes me wonder what the next boat will be made of.

Oh, I love it when the trees are covered in that thin sheet of ice, it's like th world is made of crystal<3 I was hoping for that (yes, I'm weird, I know) but looks like it won't happen this year^^;
Haha, I think all fnagirls would be perfectly happy with a 23min episode of just thatXDDD Just trying to picture Nino 'swimming' over to Ohno, while Ohno just spins in place looking dazed kills meXD Poor Aiba, not only did he get hit in the face he dropped the egg he was trying to snatchXP They are so adorable, I can't get over it...<3
The next boat (it's a secret, shh) will be made out of ohno's clayXDD Nino will be lying around seasick, Ohno will be molding the prow into a weird face, Sho will be screaming bloody murder and bailing for all he's worth, Aiba will be laughing hysterically at the water swirling around his ankles, and Jun will be throwing a fit about how they're trying to sail a clay boatXDDD hahah, I really want to see that now...;P

Alright! Thanks for the translations for the Odoroki Special!! I love Aiba and Jun together! Jun's so cute when he acts so innocent and carefree. He hit Aiba in the face!! I was like AIBAAA!! Amen to that. The leaf boat. Nothing good can come out of this. Why do they always have Sho doing these things??

Jun is truly amazing when it comes down to it. He's so deep. His article on the sky is incredible! I know what he means, though. A bright blue sky can really put you in a great mood. I'm like you I guess nyan-chan. There are days that I prefer a nice gray sky as well.

Thank you for translating! ^^ Aiba really does bring out the most silly side of Jun. He sounded like he was having a ton of fun xD

The sky is really influential ne?
I find them soothing, as if I can hide from the world, and sometimes as if the world is letting out all its pain and sadness, allowing me to do the same.
That's so true. On cloudy days, I feel a lot more peaceful and content. Also when the sky is a really clear blue with those huge, really fluffy, pure white clouds are very calming.

Ahh~ the snow is extremely pretty. I've never seen hoarfrost (I think) and since I live in southern California, it really never snows here. You're so lucky to live in a place where it snows. :]
